Yes, I'm spoiled by micro 4/3!
I have been using micro 4/3 cameras for about four years now, with various cameras as the E-PM2, E-PL3, E-M1, Gm1, Gm5, Gx7...etc Today, I only kept 3 cameras: the E-M1, the GX7 and the GM1. I love the system, and it does all I need. (It replaced a full blown Canon DSLR system).
Also, I have been using a small Canon S100 as my p&s camera. It had its place in my equipment, because it's really small, even compared to the GM1 with kit lens.
However, recently, I felt like the Canon couldn't give me much better quality than my latest smartphone, so I felt the need to upgrade my pocket camera.
I got a like new second hand Canon G7X, but I was very disappointed with the poor focusing abilities (backfocusing like my old Canon 50D!, bringing me back to some deeply traumatizing experiences). Also, the lens was surprising on paper (24-100 eq, 1.8-2.8), but in real life, I'd say it was too much of a compromise.
Also, the camera was too big actually. Much bigger than my S100 and not much smaller than the GM1. After a quick comparison with the GM1, the G7X had to go, no question.
Then I managed to find a Sony RX100 (mkI, it's the smallest one). A nice camera, I've got a better feel than with the Canon, but after a short while, I realized that the stabilisation was very ineffective, giving me at most 1 stop at the long end of the lens. Also, I missed the touchscreen of the GM1. And finally, the lens was both slow AND not so sharp either. Again, a comparison with the GM1 and kit lens (not even talking about the 20 1.7 and 45 1.8 I often pair it with) was fatal to the Sony.
So there I am. I have a fully working S100, which brought me some nice pictures over the years, but that I don't use much anymore as my GM1 offers so much more. I would like to replace it with something that would give me better AF and IQ, but it has to remain highly pocketable at the same time. 1" sensor cameras seem the way to go, but none of those I've tested come close to what I consider "good enough" quality.
So for the moment, I think I'll keep the S100, as long as it keeps shooting, for the moments I really don't want to bring a camera bag along, and I'll use my m43 camera for any other moment.
Yes, I've been officially spoiled!
