Assume we cannibalize the full frame DPAF sensor from the 5DIV and live view AF works great. For $2000 would you prefer...

For the full frame EF-M options, assume full frame EF-M lense are introduced at the same pace as existing crop EF-M lenses.

#2 assuming I can also use the existing EF-M lenses.

One good thing about Sony is you can buy a FF camera and then use either FF or APSC lenses on it seemlessly.  Since the acutal size of the camera body changes little between APSC and FF you can have FF when you need the IQ and have smaller lenses when it doesn't matter as much.  The best of both worlds.

So far Sony is the only company to do this.  Canon should get smart and follow.

I use all my EF lenses on the Sony with the Sigma MC-11. For my uses, they feel quite native. I am very satisfied with this solution.

I'm curious how well the adapter works and if there are any lenses that present problems with it.  My most used lenses are the 24-70/4L IS and 70-200/4L IS.

I justread a rumor that said the A7 III is on its way soon.  If true I'm guessing you may be able to pickup an A7 II for not too much more than the M5.  Might be a more flexible option in the end since you could use Canon EF/EF-S as well as Sony FE & E mount lenses.  Might be the most flexible camera out there as far as lens usage.

Something for a serious adventure/wilderness/travel photographer/videographer, would tempt me, even if it cost $3000. An M5-style body with full weather-sealing, larger buttons that could be identified by feel with a thinly-gloved hand, larger grip and battery for cold-weather shooting, 4K video, 35MP or more resolution, time lapse stills, zebras for video exposure, and fully-articulated LCD for both horizontal and vertical composition would tick my list. No more crippled cameras, top-shelf features!

Sony makes such a camera today.

If the A7RmkII could focus as well with a Metabones adapter with Canon lenses as with native (including touch to pull focus in video), and if it had ergonomics/UI anywhere near Canon's, I'd already have switched to it.
