Looks like M is coming home

Got this little beast before, but I didn´t appreciate its power and abilities enaugh. Only after jumping the ship, I realized what this little beast and powershouse can do, yet it´s still very compact, and cargo pants pocketable if needed (with 22mm pancake).

Now when it´s back in my hand, I´m going to get some very nice very fast lenses for it, and wait for larger brother M5.

After all those years, it still amazes me.

The usability of a camera is the first priority in my opinion.

Sure, this subjective but there is no camera for everyone.

Yes & No, I might come back to a M10 with Selfie Screen + Buildin Flash
1

As a long timed Canon DSLR shooter who left for other platform. I can see the appeals in coming back to Canon:

  • Familiar & Consistent menu system from powershot p&S to Mark V
  • Familiar Canon Color
  • Amazing Canon Picture Style Jpeg Engine (most underrated feature)

then again, I also familiar with the reason why people left canon:

  • High Price + Low Feature (poor value/performance ratio )
  • slow pace of improvements
  • stagnant sensor with limited dynamic range
  • high iso that isn't as good as either Sony, Nikon, or Pentax

Ultimately the attraction to M series boil down to just 2 lens for me:

  • EF-M 11-18mm STM
  • EF-M 22mm F/2 STM (much cheaper & smaller than Fuji 23mm f/2 lens for $499)

I thought about coming back to the Original M (so cheap on eBay), but I also recalled how annoying the (1) Lack of build-in Flash (2) no selfie screen is. I'm waiting for Canon M10 to go on the discount more before I pickup a M10 as a bakcup to my M43.
