Sony HDR CX240 Shallow Depth

How can I achieve shallow depth in my Sony HDR CX240? One way I do is placing the camera at a distance and zooming in to the subject and focusing manually. But if the camera is placed nearer the subject, shallow depth is not achieved. Please help me out. Also I find no way to attach a lens.

The CX240 has a very small sensor, which will generally prevent you from achieving a shallow depth of field. One way around this is shooting objects further away, and using the telephoto settings to achieve a shallower depth of field.

If shallow depth of field is important to you, the CX240 is the wrong video camera for you. You will need to shoot with something that has a much larger sensor, and which will cost a lot more.

The sensor in the CX240 is smaller than the smallest sensors mentioned in that article.
