Odd behavior on T5i

I'm using a promaster hot shoe pc adapter. I am unable to trigger the studio with the camera tethered but am able to without tethering. Uning it for a photobooth. Any ideas? I may have to just use "hot" lights instead.

Studio flash, I presume.

At what point does it fail? When you plug an unconnected cable into the camera? When you plug the other end into the computer? When you start up the EOS Utility(?)? When you trigger a shot from the EOS Utility?

The only thing I can think of is there might be a setting in the EOS Utility overriding the normal behaviour of the flash system.

The other thing I'd do is see what happens with a compatible flash on the camera hotshoe, then on the adapter hotshoe. That won't fix it but you might find out something interesting.
