I started a thread regarding any issues about shutter shock with the 14-140 and had some very informative replies. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4064814

Basically with the GX85 and G85 due to dual I.s., there are no issues, but sorry, not sure about the GX8.

I have the GX8 and the 14-140 Mk II.  Both have firmware updates that involve the dual IS.  I've not experienced shutter shock.  Nor have I tried to create it, test for it, etc.  I do shoot primarily with E-shutter.  There is an Auto shutter that works with whatever lens is mounted to try to avoid mechanical shocking shutter for the suspect shutter speed range.

IMOH, the shutter shock police have found ways to prove beyond any doubt in their minds that the GX8 is "snake bit" for shutter shock.  It appears they've done enough damage to the GX8's marketability that the price is being driven down or "free" lenses are being added.  That is good news for anyone that wants an exceptionally good camera for and exceptional bargain price!   Panasonic has also contributed to the price drop by releasing a couple M4/3 cameras with some interesting shutter and stability features.  Again, IMOH, those new cameras don't ruin the GX8.  They only, add options to the Panasonic line.

For me the choice was very easy. The 14-140 is so much more useful because of the 14-40 that is missing from the Oly lens. When I am out taking pictures, I hate to change lenses. This summer, when I went to Yellowstone, i found that the 14-140 was on my lens most of the time and at least 60% of the time I was in the 14-40 range. In fact, when I was not using the 14-140, I was using the 12-35 lens. Indoors or in poor light I used the 15MM 1.7 lens. I have other lenses but these three are the ones I have to have in my bag.

Do you find the 14-140 results are good enough compared to the Panasonic 2.8 lenses?

I have the 12-35 and 35-100 but was considering adding the 14-140mm for it's versatility and right now is $150 off.

My only concern was I might see results from the 14-140 that I might have preferred I used the 2.8 lens instead.

Hi Kirk,

I have been surprised by just how good the 14-140 is.  I am completely satisfied with it and love the fact that I can put one lens on the camera and do not have to be constantly changing lenses.  If I am traveling light, I just take that lens and the 15mm 1.7 for indoors or poor light.

If you buy the 14-140, you will not be sorry.  Take the $150 and run with it.

Good Luck,

Hal

Friends, I use Leica 12-60mm with my GH5. In your opinion wil I be happier with Panasonic 14-140mm or Olympus 40-150mm. Only I mean about focal excursion. Thanks for some info.
