Ultimate macro setup (macro lens+extension tubes+teleconverter)
16

So I've been playing around to see how much macro can I get with my gear. 60mm macro lens (Zuiko) + 2 extension tubes (10mm + 16mm) + MC-14 1.4x teleconverter (not intended for such a task, but works great nevertheless). I can get approx. 2.5:1 magnification, with a decent working distance of some 7 cm from the front lens. And AF works, too.

An old stamp, approximately the size of a FF sensor, with just a 60mm lens.

And with the full macro setup.

Nice! Now let's see a bug or something that moves. That should be a challenge.:-D

Looks like fun!  I've been playing with an old Canon FD mount bellows and lenses for extreme macro setups.

I have had these for a few months, really happy with them. Auto focus  works great. Only issue is if you switch lenses, the camera will have to be turned off then back on to reingage the connections. Not a big deal at all.

I have Pixco, but I guess Fotga and Meike (and any other similarly priced tubes of other brands) are pretty much the same. When ordering on eBay you just have to check if the tubes have electric contacts.

I have just purchased some Pixco extension tubes via Amazon but the electronic contacts don't appear to work with my E-M1 Mk 1. Did you have any problem with yours?

Check all the spring loaded pins work, my first set of these had one of the pins stuck down so wouldn't connect properly, an easy fix though if it is your issue

Where in the chain of lenses did you put the MC-14?  I have the MC-14 to use with the 40-150 Pro, and I thought it was not to be used with other lenses except the 300mm Pro because it could protrude into the lens, damaging it.

MC-14 gets between the camera and extension ring or adaptor (there is no glass in the ext. ring or adaptor, so there is enough clearance for the protrusion).

The problem is when I  put the 10mm tube on the camera first. It doesn't lock into place. Somehow the hole doesn't line up with the camera pin.

There is one other thing to check, the contacts need to be sprung if you want to stack 2. I found out the hard way as unfortunately I can not get my two tubes stacked to work on my M4/3 system, and unlike my sony ones - which do stack - I noticed that the only difference I could see was that my brand of M4/3 tubes doesn't have sprung contacts.

Sorry I am not able to confirm either of the brands at the moment, as the gear is not with me today.
