Remove 55-250mm STM baffle for full frame coverage?

I've been using the 55-250mm (first the IS II, now the STM) on my Sony bodies for a few years. Great lens at a great cost. It's so good at the long end that I haven't yet found anything comparable in full frame without spending $1,000+. AF also works great with my inexpensive Viltrox II adapter. Previously I was using the A6000 and A6300 so it offered full coverage but now with the A7II I am getting heavy vignetting on the edges. I've seen the baffle removed on other lenses for better FF coverage such as the 10-18mm STM but I'm not sure if it's at all possible with the 55-250mm. The vignetting is only on the left and right side due to the 3x2 aspect ratio. So I can currently get a very usable 14MP in a portrait view. Anyone tried this or have any input? Any reduction in vignetting would be useful and the lens is cheap enough that I don't mind hacking it a bit if it would help. Thanks

I am nit sure how it would work, but the $550 70-300 II will be out soon and I know it will perform better on FF than an adapted 55-250 STM.

Removing the "baffle" doesn't reduce vignetting,  it just allows an EF-S lens to be used on a full frame camera.

Wide angle lenses like the EF-S 10-18 only vignette at the wide end when used on FF while tele lenses will vignette at all focal lengths.

Ah, I see. That's too bad, the 55-250mm STM is such an excellent performer for the price. Hopefully the new Canon 70-300mm mentioned by the other poster will be better than the previous version

On 24mp APS-C sensors for consistency

Hopefully it lives up to expectations, looks like November 30th release date
