Why would you buy EOS M5?

If you buy EOS M5 in the near future, what would be your main concern?

EF to digital EF-M

Availability of focal reduction adapter for EF lenses.

This is the first EF-M body where te use of a wide range of EF lenses could be seriously contemplated (has evf).

Glad to see the M5 but not interested, rather have a 80D !  Best of both worlds.

Small size but not much else or anything superior, and I suspect for a while the prices will effectively be almost same.

So still a personal pref thing - but glad an M can now focus !!!!!!

I'm outraged that the Canon M doesn't have Dual Pixel CMOS AF!

I'm outraged that the Canon M doesn't have a built-in EVF!

Oh wait, the latest model has both.

you have the 11-22....its probably best in class...its the sharpest UWA canon has ever made for APS-c....is as sharp or sharper than the £2500GBP 11-24F4L (when on APS-c)

the 22f2 is better than the £800GBP sony zeiss 24mmf1.8 (just)

the 28 f3.5 is a very unique lens

there are more GOOD affordable lenses for the M than Sony APS-c has... like the 18-55 and 55-200 are better than sony has for APS-c

just some more f2 primes are needed

i cannot see the point of FR adaptors ......you take a compact camera body....put a expensive heavy  glass filled adaptor on it, put a big FF lense on it trying to emulate the IQ of FF but just not  managing it...  but as a by product you get as big and expansive camera as FF

.................just buy a 6D and be done with it ..second hand a 6D is £200-250 GBP cheaper than an M5

M5+meterbones = £1600GBP

6D S/H+ nothing    =£850 GBP

Even the original M focuses very well. Not lightning fast, but very accurate. And, it actually focuses faster than the vaunted A6300 for most of my uses. That's because the time between deciding what to focus on and taking the shot is a lot less with the M. I just tap on the screen with touch shutter enabled. With a camera without touchscreen, like the A6300, you have to move the focus spot to what you want using various directional keys. The A6300 may have lightning fast AF once the focus spot is over your subject, but the time it takes to move the focus spot is a lot more than the time it takes to tap on the screen of the M. Depending on how you use the camera, this can actually make the M a faster camera than the A6300. I know it sounds hard to believe, but it's true. Of course, if you don't like to move the focus spot around a lot, the A6300 will be faster, but I'm constantly moving the focus spot. The new feature on the M5 of using the screen to select the focus point while looking through the EVF is by far the most interesting aspect of the camera for me. All current cameras (with the same sensor size) give the same IQ, when used with equally good lenses. It's the usability features that really distinguish them.

As the length of a thread approaches 150, the probability that someone will make the obvious "it's not the camera, it's the photographer" remark approaches 1.

Same here.

Moreover, the latest one provides a better control!

If you already know what you're buying, you should have no concerns whatsoever. A majority of togs have already done their homework when departing with their money.

DPAF and touchpad AF when using EVF make it the most intuitive camera. So which option should I check?

I'm thinking of buying one, as I'll be able to use my EF lenses, it has a viewfinder, 24mp APS-C, and will do 7fps.

Dave you are so right, f2 primes are the one hole that's left in the ef-m line of lenses.

I would LOVE pancake 17mm f1.8 efm prime.  45mm, 70mm primes would complete the trifecta for my purposes.

That and 4k video...

i think it will happen ..i dont think canon will go to all the efert to make £1000GBP camera and not make cash on lenses for it

Remember sony have no new APS-c lenses in the last 3 years ...canon release 5
