Finally, A competitor for 40-150 f/2.8 in MFT

I'm talking about the newly announced PL 50-200 f/2.8-4.
I hope they come up with a 1.4x teleconverter for it too.

Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 was the most loved lens of FourThirds (just look at the customer reviews). But not up to (down to) the size/weight of the MFT.

It doesn't look THAT big; however, it is an option if weight is low enough.

I suppose, IQ will be up there in the Oly Pro league.

My 50~200 was the most useful and beloved lens I've ever owned.  The original set up with the E-1 was with a 14~54 (also a good lens) and the 50~200.  Both took 67mm filters.  A perfect set up.  Later came the 12~60 and it was a very good lens too.  A modern version of these two lenses is something I'd really like to own.  I wish they had been announced before I bought my 12~40 and 40~150, which in my option are not nearly as well set up as the the older E system lenses.  Also they take different size filters which is a PITA.  Don't think I'm up to spending MORE money, and selling my existing lenses at a big loss.  But I think those who get the new combo will be greatly pleased by them.

Somehow how I do not think the new Pana-Leica's will be cheap. Expected to pay more than the equivalent Olympus model.

I do have lens envy though!
