Not expecting it to be cheap.

Just didn't expect it to be priced like prosumer weathersealed 4k capable 10+ fps mirrorless camera's at launch.

I didn't expect Canon to undercut their 80D, which has the same sensor.

Besides, Panasonic has a smaller sensor, and is a lesser known camera brand.

How much is body only price. What are the chances of some price drop by black friday? I think, we should see some discount in America where they have problem selling mirrorless bodies.

Interesting to see that Canon USA are the main focus for the introduction of the new M5. Maybe a way of saying "sorry" for ignoring them with the M3.

No order for me.

I wont be ordering for months till the froth settles down. I wont buy new electronic anything until its been out for a while and I get to see whats wrong with it.

As the saying goes "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me".

You're too late Canon.  Got fed up of waiting, sold all my Canon gear and bought a  Sony A7 II and an A7R II.

Very happy with my decision.

The Canon USA online store wouldn't let me pre-order a refurbished, on sale, M5.

Once bitten, twice shy

Quite an overwhelming number of people are not going to preorder. Doesn't mean they won't buy it in the future. I don't blame the folks either once bitten, twice shy.

One of my very favorite Tom Hanks movies (Volunteers).  John Candy is a hoot in it too.

Re: Are you pre-ordering the M5?

No ... already have the orig. M as well as the M2, both of which I use as a light weight travel kit.  I am interested in the 18-150 lens, depending on tests, actual photo samples, etc.

I've been looking at updating my 50D to an 80D but if the M5 is equal or better than 80D then the M5 might be the better choice.  I want to see test results as well as real world results from knowledgeable users.

In hindsight Canon USA was right to avoid the M3 initially. Now the M line is known for crippled cameras at a discount.

Re: Are you pre-ordering the M5? - No

I *almost* did. Then I found out amazon won't take my Amex points for a "pre-order" item. Just more time for me to watch it and see if there are any serious bugs that need to be worked out first.

Also gives me time for Kirk/RRS to come out with an L-Plate and glass screen protectors to come out ...
