Fish Eye Lens for 360 Panoramic Images

Hi… I’m after purchasing a lens for my Samsung NX 300 to create Panoramic Images using PTGUI

There’s a few Fish Eye lens I’ve seen, but one sure on which one to get.

Samyang 8mm f2.8

Samyang 8mm f3.5

The other option would be to get the Official Samsung 10mm Fisheye f3.5

Any comments?

Thanks!

I own the samsung 10mm fisheye and like it a lot. I have tried two image panoramas but not 360.

Not sure how 360 panoramas would look considering all the distortion that fisheye lenses have. Normally, you want to overlap around 30% of the image, but since there's a lot of distortion around the corners, you'd probably want to overlap more, like 50%. That means that you'd need at least 4 shots to cover 360 degrees if you want to minimize distortion.

I had both Samyang 8 2.8 and Samsung 10 3.5, then sold the Samsung.

Samyang is wider and sharper wide open and MF was easy to operate.

Samsung is smaller, AF and can focus closer.

Samyang 8 3.5 is for DSLR - larger and not that good optically as 8 2.8.

Closer (Auto-) focusing of the NX, is a big plus for me. I love this lens, on a NX500, and the 45 on the NX1 I can go all day.

I just realized that it can focus very closely couple of days ago. It's a very cool feature and will have to try it out soon
