EPL6 Summer Triangle Stack
1

Below I cropped from my image, and you can see the different colors of Mars, Saturn, Antares, as well as the different blue and bluish white stars. You can even see the yellow of G type stars. I had to convert it from TIF back to JPG to post it here (and in my gallery.) Do you by any chance know if either or both Flickr and Shutterfly can host large TIF files? Mine are 50-150mb. Thanks!

Looking at the magnitude list, I think my goal should be to bring out the color of Arcturus, since the stars brighter than it either cannot be seen from here or are white anyway (Sirius).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcturus

So my goal is going to be to make the color magnitude range from 0 to 7.5 (a stack of 16 jpgs) or 0 to 10.5 (a stack of 16 RAWs). But from what you're saying I can do 0 to 10.5 even by stacking jpgs?

The below is a crop from a stack of 7x 2 sec f/3.5 ISO 1000 jpg exposures. Saturn's yellows are just barely visible in the middle, to its lower right is orange-ish Antares and in the upper right is Mars. You can see that there is color visible in the surrounding stars all the way down to Mag 5.5 So I'm saying the mag range here is -1.5 to 5.5 or 7.0 Which is what it should be if my calculations are right since a single jpg subframe should give a magnitude range of 6.0 and stacking 7 should lower the noise floor by 1 mag thus the mag range of 7.0. If I stacked 16 I would lower the noise floor by 1.5 mag, 40 would lower the noise floor by 2.0 mag, 100 by 2.5 mag and 250 by 3.0 mag.

Re: EPL6 Summer Triangle Stack

I used Sequator to bring out more stars in the image.
