NX1 Wildlife and Nature images from last week
8

Just some images from Nature taken last week with the NX1, 60mm macro and 50-150 S for your enjoyment:

Links to the originals are below

This image was taken with the 60mm macro from about 4 to 6 inches. Both critters were too involved to be worried about what I was doing. I was just being careful not to fall into the lake.

The following 3 images were taken with the 50-150mm f/2.0-2.8 S:

Link to lower left image: Sun Flowers by Teatown Lake

Link to lower right image: Swallowtails

BONUS: A 52 second video of the frog having a bad day can be seen here . I watched the struggle go on for about an hour very early Sunday morning while it evolved into a stalemate. Nature can be fascinating, though always potentially deadly. The video was taken with the 50-150mm f/2.0-2.8 S in order to find a stable footing for my CF travel tripod. The results were cropped in post to gain magnification and also balance or eliminate the very strong constantly changing dappled sunlight under the forest canopy.

Anyone having recent NX images of Nature, feel free to join this thread and post them (or links to them). It's always good to have picture threads to show what our NXs can do.

Also, your comments are always welcome.

I now know what you guys like . . .
2

. . . judging by the hits to my website. You like frogs being eaten by snakes (60%) and herons in flight (35%). Not so much flowers in great light or even butterflies on flowers (together only 5%).

Ok, so while I haven't posted additional frog/snake images, here's another one of a Heron in Flight .

And since this is a Nature themed thread, here's a beaver having breakfast at sunrise (just breakfast though, not an encounter with another animal, though it really surprised me that it let me get that close):

Beaver Eating Breakfast at Dawn

Once again, feel free to post your recent NX Nature images to keep this thread going.

Really nice. I love the backlighting on the feathers. And a great example of how we can adapt to Samsung's unfortunate (apparent) departure by using your Nikon and my Canon long glass.

Thanks for sharing,

More of Nature's small wonders from the Summer of 2016
1

Links to full images:

Right: A Frog joins us in the Pool in Virginia

It's Summer north of the Equator and much of Nature shares our daily life at local lakes and along natural (or manmade) trails. If you've taken recent images of Nature's small or large wonders with your NX, share them (or their links) here. I will try to continue posting my own new images here as well.

Comments are always welcome,

Ed
