Re: All equipment has limitations ... learn what they are and work-around them.

I did a shoot with a model and at an average took around 1 frame a second or every 1 and half second as the model did various poses on the fly and the a7r2 with the fastest sd card i have could not keep up.

After maybe the 10th frame, i could no longer take anymore shots until some of the buffer was clear..

Do you really need 42mp? Sounds like a DSLR would be a better fit. What are you shooting?

Of course for portrait work and landscape!

Why not a 5DS/R? Those are reliably more responsive.

Poor dynamic range for landscape work. I have a 5d3

Memory is cheap and landscapes don't move. Bracket!

Plus from what I hear Magic Lantern helps a good bit with DR.

Uncompressed 42MP may be a bridge too far. Sony needs to match that sensor with a body/processor that can handle it.

The ML devs don't have a version for the 5DS[s] ... bummer.

Dual-ISO helps quite a bit with my 6D, but I'd guesstimate that the 6d (and 5d2 and 5d3) are about two generations behind the a7Rii in sensor technology ... circa 2008 tech.

So I just tested on fw 3.3

compressed RAW 30 shots in 30 seconds and 20 seconds to clear buffer. No lock up

Uncompressed RAW 12 shots in 12 secs then about a shot every 2-3 seconds. about 40 seconds to clear buffer

Uncompressed RAW + low rez jpeg 11 shots in 11 secs then about a shot every 2-3 seconds. about 40 seconds to clear buffer

compressed RAW low speed continuous 25 shots till lock up

compressed RAW high speed 23 until lock up

Question why do you really need to shoot uncompressed? I would only do this in some critical landscape work where I would want to max out the DR but to be honest the benefits are really minor
