DxO update to V11.1
2

Email in now that DxO OpticsPro has updated the V11.1 and also has extended their discount period to July 31 so the Elite version (to get the rather excellent Prime noise reduction) is US$149 instead of $199 https://shop.dxo.com/us/photo-software/dxo-opticspro

Differences between Elite and vanilla version http://www.dxo.com/us/photography/photo-software/dxo-opticspro/editions

The videos at https://support.dxo.com/hc/en-us/categories/200250117-DxO-OpticsPro do help explain how to use some features, though that guy's voice grates to my Aussie ears - exactly why they used an Aussie woman to voice Siri and such in millions of devices. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2654762/I-no-idea-Woman-Australian-Siri-voice-navigation-systems-surprising-phone-call-friend-using-GPS-two-years-recording-50-hours-lines.html but I digress.... back to post......

V11.1 added a split full screen view of before/after and included a few more cameras like E-PL6 and Pen-F. The features page tells you more if unfamiliar with DxO http://www.dxo.com/us/photography/photo-software/dxo-opticspro/features the update is free of course to V11 users.

Users of earlier versions than V11 log in to your account at DxO and see the reduced prices for upgrades to V11.1

Release notes at http://download-center.dxo.com/Support/docs/DOP11/current_release_note/Release_Notes_DxO_OpticsPro_Win_EN.pdf

As usual, 30 day trials so can try before you buy.

Regards...... Guy (not paid, just a satisfied user)

Re: DxO update to V11.1

Just bought DxO today. From what I can tell it is amazing with details and basic exposure compared to lightroom.

Working an image takes forever compared to the lightroom controls but seems worth it so far.

If you use the default preset then it applies the lab created profile of that body plus lens as well as some auto things to help improve the image. From there you can fiddle as much as you like or try the "Apply Presets" on the top right and something may look nicer. After that it's into the sliders. Watching some of the videos will help and I have yet to go through all of them at http://www.dxo.com/us/photography/tutorials

Hey, if you want quality then it takes some effort, but quite often the default preset is OK for the hack stuff I do on holidays.

I find the clearview function rather wonderful.

Yes, that works well on most images, fine tune to taste.

Another trick is crop.....

For me that delivers extra width to shots (compared to the camera jpeg) which can be useful at times.

Were you an expert LR user in less than a day?  Perhaps you just haven't gotten used to DxO yet.  I find it easier to use than LR.
