Well, as usual I forgot to check things properly.

I use A mode as default with my RX1r, I can handle 1/60th handheld with it, unless I forget to hold steady which does happen. BUT, I had my small snug bag for 3 days in the city, and, while pulling it out, I didn't realize the wheel moved to S mode. Aperture wheel said f5.6, I thought that was what I was getting.

I wish we could lock the mode dial after moving it. Happens on my rx100s too, never happens on my Oly, action must be tighter. My R1, the focus wheel high on the left side moved too often, I jammed a small piece of rawhide from a baseball glove in the groove.

What I got was a batch of S mode, 1/100th, all variations of F stops, camera determined.

luckily in the very bright atrium where the birds are, the camera was able to choke enough.

I realized on the way out, changed to A mode, shot the shiny shoes F 5.6, which are blurred if you look close enough. I wish the pink/red dress was sharper also.

The birds are all Manual Focus, I am quite happy with them.

Shots from these cameras always look super clean. Even on small screens and compressed images as here, you can really see the quality of those images. I use APS-C as well but there is never any doubt as to why I have my RX1.

Well,

I agree, the RX1 lens, sensor, Jpeg colors are all terrific.

This set of glass birds, shot closely, with no exaggerated shallow depth of field would be a nice comparison opportunity between my rx100m3 and RX1r, especially when you consider our on-line viewing sizes.

The name cards look blurry, but I think it is just that they are old and the ink is not as crisp as when new, the dust on the birds looks sharp enough. To the museums credit, there is little dust to be found.

Someone said, to take better photographs, go find something better to photograph. These glass birds, and the museum's displays of them are superb, I just aimed at them.
