Canon T3 Software Download

Does anyone know where I can download the DPP software for my T3, I can't find a link for it on Canon's website.

I know it's an old camera but it's what I have and my new laptop doesn't have a CD/DVD drive so I'm a bit stuffed to get the software installed without a download link.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Canon T3 Software Download

You can find the downloads on the Canon support page for the EOS Rebel T3. Here is the link for the Canon USA site

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/dslr/eos-rebel-t3-ef-s-18-55-is-ii-kit

Under "Drivers and Downloads" click on the "Software" tab.  You will find links for both DPP 4.4.30 and DPP 3.15.0.

The DPP 3.15.0 package on that page is an updater and requires DPP 3 to already be installed. For what the OP wants he should do the following:-

1) Select the Software Tab

2) If you're using Windows 10 select an earlier version e.g. Windows 8.1

3) You will now see an option labelled "EOS Digital Solution Disk Software 29.1A for Windows (For users who cannot use the bundled CD)" Click on the select button.

4) Click on the "I have agreed etc." box then click on the Download button.

5) You will be asked to provide your camera serial number which is located on the bottom of your camera.

6) You should now be able to download the software. This is effectively a copy of the install CD.

7) Unzip the file and run the setup.exe. You should now be able to install the components you require. N.B. you may need to update them to the latest versions from the above web page.

Hope this helps

Canon T3 Software Download questions

This is an excellent question for myself.   I have a T5i and I have not opted to download the software as of yet.  However if  I do decide to do that in the future, this thread indicates that I get it via the T5i download page.  I wonder if I wanted the latest version of the software would I be eligible to go through the T6i page and obtain a copy of the latest version?  If I had the T3i instead of the T5i would I still be eligible for the latest version?  I think that since I have Windows 10 I would need the latest version of the software.

I missed the fact that the DPP 3.15.0 package is an updater and not a full install - sorry.

Re: Canon T3 Software Download

OK, so I followed the instructions through (thanks jtstanco for the link, thanks Ian for the detailed instructions) so far I have installed DPP 4 and then went to the link to check for updates have downloaded and unzipped Dppw 3.15.0 updater - however when I go to install the updater files a dialogue box appears which is asking for the software CD and the only options are Start CD Search or Cancel Install - so I have the DPP4 which puts me in a better spot than I was for sure - but anyone got any tips on bypassing that dialogue box to install the latest updates?

Thanks.

That is why I indicated you downloaded the "EOS Digital Solution Disk Software 29.1A for Windows (For users who cannot use the bundled CD)" package, which is the complete CD content and will allow you to install all the camera support packages. This link downloads a zip file called something like ksd291a_installer.zip which when unpacked creates the file ksd291a_installer.exe, running this will allow you to select which of the camera support packages to install (including DPP 3.x.x).

N.B. If you are running Windows 10 you will not see this package in the list until you change the OS version selection drop down box to Windows 8.1.

Canon's updater packages search for an existing version of the package and if it is not installed prompt for the installation CD, as you discovered.

Thanks Ian, my bad... the image on my screen was very small so I didn't look properly at which download you recommended and just grabbed the first obvious one in the list, I'll get it done right this time!

No need to. Canon offer updates in perpetuity and all compatible updates will be listed on the relevant camera support page. E.G. The latest version of DPP 4.x.x (currently 4.4.30) is listed on the pages for the T3, T5i and T6i.

Re: Canon T3 Software Download

Hi Ian, so I have downloaded and installed 29.1A ( 3) You will now see an option labelled "EOS Digital Solution Disk Software 29.1A for Windows (For users who cannot use the bundled CD)" Click on the select button)

Then went back to the link:
https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/dslr/eos-rebel-t3-ef-s-18-55-is-ii-kit and then Under "Drivers and Downloads" went to click on the "Software" tab but... that Software link no longer appears! It was there earlier and I used it to get DPP 4 and 3.15.0 but now that section of the page is blank white space!

There was an option to search via product name - which I did using T3 and nothing appeared via that option either?

David.

A tad off the subject

I recommend that you look at the forth coming T7 series as a possible upgrade of your current model.  Run a comparison between the new model and your model on something like imaging-resource.com/cameras/compare.  Enter your model on one side of the vs and the new T7 model on the other side.  Look at all the things that the site says that the new model has as an advantage and see if its worth the dollars to you.  Personally I would give them something like $50 per feature then total up the tags.  If it equals or is more than the cost of the new model I go get it, other wise I wait.  The new T6i is worth $130 to me, still not enough improvements.  I am considering the 70d in a few years.

Hi David

Hmm... going to that page still shows me the Software option.

It is possible that Canon has set something in a cookie so it would be worth removing all cookies associated with Canon's website from your browser. I suggest you google for instructions using the phrase "removing cookies from {name of your web browser}".

If you have installed 29.1A then the DPP 3.15.0 updater you downloaded earlier should now work. Also DPP 4.x.x is not part of the support disk and as you say you installed it earlier there is no need to reinstall it.

Re: Canon T3 Software Download

Hi Ian, I had installed DPP 4, then uninstalled it once I realised I hadn't gone down the correct 29.1A route. However as of late last night, the software option was back and I was able to download and install 3.15.0, I ran the updater, saw the install taking place, rebooted the computer but still only have DPP 3 available to me - which is obviously better than the nothing that I had prior to starting this conversation but it would be good to have v.4 - if indeed it is even available for the T3.

Re: Canon T3 Software Download

The software list on the T3 support page is specific to the T3, so DPP 4.4.30 should support the files from your T3.

(e.g., if I look at the support page for the older Rebel XTi, it does not list DPP 4.4.30 under the Software tab - it only lists the DPP 3.15.0 updater)

So does the DPP 3.15.0 updater have the files to update to DPP 4.4.30? If so, how is it that what I now see on screen is the same as the original DPP software I had prior to getting a new laptop and which is considerably different than the version of DPP 4.xxx that I installed by mistake from the link you originally provided.

Hi David

DPP 4.x.x is a completely separate product to DPP 3.x.x and installs separately from the support disk (hence you can download the full installer rather than an updater from the support website). If you un-installed it then you can re-install it from the download you did earlier or if you've deleted the download as well as un-installing the re-download it from the website.

The DPP 3.15.0 updater just updates your current version of DPP 3.x.x (the one you installed from 29.1A installer) to version 3.15.0.

No - the DPP 3.15.0 updater just updated you from the 2014 version of DPP 3.x that was on the solution disk you downloaded to 3.15.0. This is why the user interface is the same as you had for DPP on your old computer.

If you want to use DPP 4.x, you need to install the DPP 4.4.30 software package you previously downloaded.
