Lumix DMC-FZ1 Panasonic???

Sounds like an Uzi clone...only with 12x tele. Any one have any more info?

Why switch? But new owners who can't find an Uzi might like it if it performs as advertised.

Yes, it does! 12X Stabilized lens (2.8 throughout the whole zoom range)! MSRP around US$450 I guess.

My understanding is that there is little manual control on this camera, but you might post in the Other Digicams forum where a Panasonic rep hangs out.

Search in "Other digicams"

There are quite a few threads there, including sample pics from owners of Japanese models, Panasonic reps comments, etc......

Thanks I checked some of the other threads out. I didn't realize it had less manual controls...big issue.

I sure wish the Uzi had a standard PC connection, the cord I have doesn't always make a solid connection and the flash doesn't always work.

Re: Search in "Other digicams"

yes, unfortunately it is more or less a P&S... Very few manual controls...

Maybe/hopefully they will come up with a more advanced version in the future. Even if they kept it as 2mp... I think the small 2mp CCD kept the 12x IS lens small and relatively inexpensive.

The Panasonic rep that frequents the "Other Digicams" forum hinted that there will be more Panasonic releases later in the year (e.g. PMA). Well, both the FZ-1 and F1 were introduced at Photokina 2002, so they are not really new, just new to the US market...
