Sounds like something scraping together—a whish sound, although it comes and goes. Happens more often when the front lens is downward and you're zooming in and out. Makes me want to return it (since the NX line is officially support-only and who knows if the noise indicates future problems) but it's ebay so it's going to be a hassle. Not a huge deal but I'm assuming ebay items are not warranty covered so I'd rather get a healthy one.

I could upload the sound if anyone cares to listen...

If it's optically good and OIS is working I wouldn't worry about it.  Just thoroughly test it to be sure.

Yeah you're probably right but I can't help being sensitive to the little things when buying $1500+ gray market lenses. The OIS and the lens itself are great.

Here's the video of the sound. Sorry for the white noise, I've accidentally plugged in the the external audio to the headphone slot so it's using the internal mic. Tell me what you guys think.

Mine S lenses are absolutely quiet when zooming (I have 3, incl one 50-150). Zoom is very smooth and noiseless.

Thank you for the comparison. It also turns out I've received the 16-50mm S lens instead of the 50-150mm one. No mounting bracket either but I've been waiting for more problems to be met before returning.

I guess my search for the 50-150mm S lens continues. I'm thinking about contacting Samsung directly, perhaps they have some left, refurbished or not. It's times like these that I wish I've jumped on the Samsung camera bandwagon earlier than later...

Wish me luck guys.

I'd say obtaiing incorrect lens is problem enough

16-50 has no mouting bracket anyway.

I've bought 50-150 in March. One month later they all dissapeared... To be fair Im not using it much, 16-50 S remains my go to lens for 90% of pictures, folowed by 12-24.

Wish me luck guys.

Good luck.

Oops I meant I've received the 16-50mm S lens hood instead of the 50-150mm one.

"Bought a refurb 50-150mm S off eBay -"

It makes me wonder, who did refurbish it?

It is known that even Samsung itself doesn't repair lenses, so my guess is that your "refurb" lens is simply a "used" or even a faulty one.

I hope I'm wrong though.

Right. And it also came in a brown box, what they described as "bulk packaging", but I knew that going in. Didn't think I'd encounter these problems. Lesson learned. Never ebay lenses.

So some one sold you a spare part lens without lens hood,. thats the reason why you got the wrong lens hood. Buy the way, spare kens 59% regular prize.....

And there is absolutely no sound using both S lenses. I would try give it back, I would not trust the seller.

mine is a bit noisy too. I can see no reason for returning it if it is working fine. I am using mine for about 15 months and I can not say a bad word about it (even if the ring is not noiselessly). Just take a fun of having great lens that is very hard to find new these days.

I would return it, there have been several of these lenses on bh, keh, and Amazon for cheaper lately. They go quickly but you can find them.
