Noise in Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS USM

I have recently bought a Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS USM. I found when taking photos, as soon as I half press the shutter, I can heard a minute continuous sound and it goes away as soon as I release the shutter. Upon further investigation, I found that the noise is not there if I turn off the IS. Can someone please help me/share their experience whether this is expected or should I ask for lens replacement?

I am also giving link for couple of Youtube videos, that I found and is talking about similar noises that I am experiencing.

Thanks,

Yes, its IS is noisy

The 70-200 f4 IS has the most noisy IS of all my lens. I think it is the last of IS lens that use rotating gyro for sensing movement. For compensating movement, its actuators make clicking noise also.

Don't worry about it. It is normal. My 70-200 worked without problem for over 7 years.

Mine is also quite noisy.

Doesn't seem to affect operation.

Yes it is normal. I'm used to it and I do miss it with other lenses. It is a conformation for me that IS is working (and a hint to wait half a second to let the IS stabilize).

I used to be afraid that the noise would make me to stand out, but it seems I'm the only one hearing it, not the subjects or bystanders.

My favorite lens by the way.

All in my humble opinion of course!

Thanks everyone for sharing your own experience. It actually scared me a lot, a new lens and such issue in the beginning, feeling relieved now

Thanks again...
