This and that with K1

Still experimenting with highlights and shadows at low iso and liking the results... processed in Lightroom...

I do wish the camera had different aspect ratios, especially if the lines could show up in the viewfinder. Seems like an odd omission.

Amity Creek in Lester Park. I waited for a long time for a little bit more sun to appear. It finally sort of did.

Black and white looks very promising to me, the way I can push things around. I missed the focus by a hair on this tree. With my m43 camera I will often focus a little behind the main object and get everything in focus. With full frame I need to stop down more if I want to do that, at least at this focal length.

Bright sun and a shaded background...

This is just an experiment in single exposure shadow and highlight manipulation, to the point where it looks a little hdr-ish.

I like the  "Bright sun and shaded background" quite a bit John. I hope to have more time to give the k-1 a better run than I have so far. I am currently having an issue where I set up all the settings the way I like it and the camera is not remembering my settings. I have the option to remember all of this checked but it isn't happening. Even the wheel set up (which I like exactly backward to what Pentax default is) won't stick. It is strange. But like I said, I haven't had a whole bunch of time to work with the k-1 and I hope to change that.
