Tamrac 5690 might be what you're looking for.

Edit: Damn, old thread. Well, I'll put my update anyway, as others may be interested and it will come up in a search.

It's a nice, snug fit.

Front pocket has room for a battery, card and small lens cloth

Best currently available case for Canon G7x mark ii
2

After a couple hours of research looking for a case to fit my Canon G7x mark ii and finding all the dated recommendations listed in this thread discontinued I took a chance on the ape case AC165 which is the big brother of their AC160 which fit my Canon 100s. I find the AC165 is it is exactly what I wanted. The reasons I highly recommend are as follows: perfect size which is ever so slightly larger than the Canon G7x allowing the camera to slide in easily vertically, room to place my camera strap on top of the camera when zipped closed, double-both way zipper on the cover to allow my long camera strap to hang out if need, front zipper compartment for batteries/accessories, pouches inside both compartments for dividing up accessories, a sturdy fixed belt loop on the back, a long clip on carrying strap, yellow interior for easy visibility, and a lifetime warranty. It is a bargain and meets all MY needs.

I looked at the following:

  • Ape Case - Digital Camera Case AC165 $12 on Amazon
  • Tamrac - TEK Fitted Case for Canon PowerShot G7X $20 on Amazon
  • Case Logic - QPB-202 EVA Molded Flash Camcorder or Medium Zoom Camera Case (Black) $26 on Amazon .

I ended up ordering the Tamrac for the following features:

  • Belt loop can be unbuttoned for easy removal from a belt without taking it off.
  • Top cover can remain unlatched, but still has Velcro to secure it while allowing for quick access.
  • The outside pocket seems like it might be large enough to fit the Canon charger in. Not a deal-breaker for me, but would be nice to have all of this camera's accessories in one place when being stored and not in use.

I haven't received the case yet, so the above is just an educated case based on internet searches and YouTube reviews.

Thanks emteetank for your tip on alternate cases. I also spent a couple of hours and wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without your tip on the Ape Case.

Happy Shooting!

Slightly different option for those who want a super robust option for travel (e.g. camera in a backpack, or exposed to the elements).

Peli 1010 fits the G7Xii perfectly. A few vids on YouTube if you want to see the fit, couldn't be closer. Of course not the best case for quick access, but apparently you can drive a car over one of these...

Re: Tamrac 5690 might be what you're looking for.

More precisely, Tamrac 5691 might be what you're looking for, as it is a little bit longer than 5690. G7X fits in perfectly, front pocket hold 2 batteries and card and it's not full. I was lucky to have it when I got G7X aftr my previous compact. Belt loop is a little bit iffy, but during many years of use there wasn't any problem with it, besides it is not simple to lock the button when putting on a belt when the case is loaded.

Tamrac 5691 loaded with G7X and 2 batteries

I was looking for something else, because one "tongue" of the buckle broke away after maybe 10 years (even with one left, the buckle is still working). Maybe something more dust proof. And looks like a difficult task. This Tamrac is so perfect otherwise, it can be used with one hand and very quickly. If you don't need spare batteries, there are more options, but with good battery storage, I'm considering maybe Lowepro Apex 30 AW.

Another idea: thrift store camera cases for older 35mm compacts would be about right for a larger modern digital compact. Probably could find an old US-made camera Tamrace for less than $5. They're quite good.
