black box appears on images olympus em10

May 29, 2016

This has happened twice since May 16.

This is a factory refurb.

I had a similar issue with my EPM2, instead of a black box, a block of the image was pasted within the image. Should I return the EM 10?

Have you tried a different memory card? Might save some frustration if it is that simple.

The Oly .orf files have a thumbnail preview embedded in them. Non-compliant viewers will glitch and display that thumbnail in a variety of ways, such as your example.

Have you tried a different viewer?

"No EXIF data" ?

That, plus 2 cameras with the same unusual issue raises a red flag.
Additionally there seems to be some issue with the rest of the image as well.

Can you post the SOOC jpg ?

My deduction is it's downstream from the camera.

I changed memory cards. Now I see this anomaly. Note the picture within the picture below the blooms.

When you view it in the camera, I assume it is ok.
If so, it might be your photo viewer.

Because it happens on different cards, and different cameras makes me think it is in Photos.

Now I am testing to see if it has something to do with RAW files. I am shooting JPG to see if the issue shows up.

It would help if you put an image file somewhere so that others could see if the same problem exists on other systems.
