New Fuji XF 14mm + Fuji Serial Numbers

I recently received a new fuji 14mm and i'm trying to figure out how new it actually is. It came from B&H and is in fine condition but it had been opened before i got it. (The bag the lens was in had been gone through and was crinkled up and the paper work on top was packed crookedly).

I've seen a couple of threads on Fuji serial numbering but i haven't seen one that answers the question of build dates definitively yet - and this lens' serial number is much lower than my other lenses (also purchased new).

The S/N of my lens starts with: 48A0

If the first number is the year as has been mentioned before i've got a 2 year old new lens. I don't care too much but the fact that the box has been opened previously makes me want to understand what's going on a little more.

Can anyone else who's recently received a new 14mm share the beginning of their S/N?

Maybe Fuji has a bunch of 14mm lenses sitting around.   Probably why there are discounting this lens so much.

agreed, seems like they're either trying to simply clear out old stock and/or prepare to release an updated version. I've never gotten returned gear from B&H before and i've been using them for a long time so the whole thing is a little off-putting.

Forgot to mention that mine is from B&H and in the same range but it is clearly brand new from what I can tell.    The Fuji lenses aren't sealed in the plastic bags so it can be hard to tell if someone actually opened it or if it was a sloppy job by Fuji assembling the box to begin with.    If the lens is perfect I wouldn't worry about it.

not sure if this helps but I recently purchased 23mm 1.4 and 56 1.2 from b and h, serials 55A and 58A respectively. So both manufactured in 2015.

People worry about the strangest stuff - suggest mounting the lens on the camera and putting it to use

If you really think it's used, contact B&H - and/or your credit card company

If it's in perfect condition, and works perfectly, does it even matter if the bag was crinkled...

I have a similar but slightly different question. Rather than start a new thread I was hopeful it could be answered here. On the fuji lens (14mm) I received the receipt (b&h) and box have a comment f/x-pro1 on the box. What exactly does f/x-pro1 indicate ?
