Digital Camera Solution CD-ROM

This CD is supposed to be included with the camera body (and other things) when you buy a new EOS. However, I bought mine used (a 300D) & there was no CD.

Can anyone help me obtain this CD? Can't seem to buy it, by itself, from Canon. Maybe, if you bought an EOS and then upgraded?

If it's not worth getting, please voice that opinion also. Thanks.

Canon EOS 300D (EOS Digital Rebel / EOS Kiss Digital)

Hi

You can download a copy from here:-

http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/cameras/digital_slr/eos_7d.aspx?type=download&language=EN&os=Windows%20XP%20%2832-bit%29

You may need your camera serial number.

I'm not entirely sure the 300D is supported by all the software, EOS Utility being the obvious one.

Hope this helps

Here is the link for the actual 300D support page. It lists a bunch of programs. I would at least try the latest EOS utility and also the latest Zoombrowser EX, which is much better than Imagebrowser that Canon currently includes for their cameras.

You  will have to scroll down to Drivers and Downloads/Software.  To see the EOS utility program you will have to choose Windows XP as the operating system before it becomes available to you.

Unfortunately the listed software are all updates (other than the RAW codec) which require the original programs to be installed from the CD first.

I would try them, they may work anyway.

I've recently uninstalled all my Canon software and re-installed with the updaters.

It doesn't cost anything to try.

Thanks! Same to the other fine folks who replied.

Unfortunately, when I ran this one, it wanted me to insert the original CD with the programs on it; it was NOT the actual program, as it led us to believe.

Yep. I expected that which is why I gave you a link to the full package.

To quote the description on the page:-

"This is an EOS DIGITAL software package for customers who cannot use bundled CD containing the EOS Digital Solution Disk Software.

The following applications are included in this package.
Digital Photo Professional 3.14.0
EOS Utility 2.14.0
EOS Sample Music

If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, the registry edits worked for me a while back: http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/install_canon_software.html

You can also try the serial number posted there and see if it works for you.
