Are these the same M.Zuiko 14-42 lens?

I ordered this lens from B&H Photo: M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II R

I receive a lens named: M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II R

The lens I received is missing the ED designation, but is otherwise the same name. Both lenses names end with II R.

I'm confused. Are those the same lens?

Yes, they are. In fact, the IIR lens (and the optically-identical but cosmetically slightly different II that preceded it) never did have ED in their name. However, many dealers mistakenly added it, as the original 14-42 M.Zuiko, as provided on the E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 (though the E-PL1's version had an L sneaked into the name on the top of the barrel, to point out that it had a plastic mount) DID have an ED in the name. This lens was a different physical and optical design.

In case the above makes you wonder, the II and IIR have always been only available with plastic mounts.

Yes, they are.

No ED element in those lenses, though the EZ model has an ED element. See the lens you bought at http://www.four-thirds.org/en/microft/standard.html#i_014-042mm_f035-056_ii_r_olympus and see the EZ with ED element a few above that lens.
