There is no 1.09 version?

It seems to be the Marie Celeste update!

It's not just the D810.

This: http://www.d5100dslr.com/tutorials/d5100firmwareupdate109/#more-520

Yet this (current update):

http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/23/D5100.html

I wouldn't usually trust a fanboy site over the official site, but I also have the fact that I took a note of the installed firmware version before I updated it.

Why are you now talking about D5100? And D810?

Lens distortion data update or firmware update?

Your previous firmware was version 1.01, if you followed Nikon's releases. Latest firmware is called 1.10.

If you saw 1.09 anywhere in your camera, it can only have been lens data correction update named version 1.009...

The link I showed above, *is* the previous firmware update to 1.10.

Probably best pretend i never mentioned it, I don't want the thread to go down that tangent!

And D810?

Nikon let me down

Sorry Adam. nuke12 wins

Nikon response: it is not possible to roll back to a previous firmware version once the camera has been update either by the user at home or by our service centre

In other words: We are unwilling to provide the information to allow end users to rectify a simple error

Second time I've dealt with Nikon and the second time they've withheld information to a simple fix. I overcame that last time by chasing through the phonelines until I spoke directly to someone in overalls 'round-the-back' rather than the suit clad automaton upfront, so looks like I'll have to pursue this the same way again

Shame on them....

...I wonder how it is in SonyWorld or Fujiland?...

As it's a three year old thread, probably not

Like the physicist's moggy says, this is a 3 yr old thread.
I never had any luck and Nikon continue to insist firmware updates cannot be rolled back (not technically true, just they'd have to make the effort to rescript it)
I am still waiting since being told by one of their tech's they could implement a firmware update to give the D800 improved AF algorythms and auto AF finetune.
But, no, all a Nikon firmware update has ever given me is a bricked lens.
In the end I told them (truthfully) I would never buy one of their products again unless they adapt the Kaizen approach as other manufacturers (such as Fuji and Olympus) when it comes to firmware updates for older products.
A gesture, evidentally, meaningless until other customers get savvy and follow suit.
Sorry I cannot help but I do implore you to complain and tell them the same.
