How to replicate Leica colors in Fuji?
2

I love Fuji and enjoy all of the choices for film like quality.  I like the colors but there is something about Leica colors that are extra special.

I have tried all sorts of settings to try to replicate Leica colors.  Currently, I am trying V at -2 colors.  Seems like it might be closer, but still no banana.

I know that some of you shoot Fuji and Leica.  I was wondering if anyone has come up with a formula in Fuji that seems close to Leica colors.

I am strictly a jpeg shooter.  I primarily shoot street with the XP1 and XE1 backup.  Primary lenses are 18mm f2, 27mm pancake and 35mm f2.  I do some adjustments in Elements with occasional use of Topaz Clarity, DXO filmpack and/or the NIK plugins (especially Silver for B+W)

In camera I don't see how you can do that. The closer I saw was using Capture One Pro and Leica M9 camera profile. RAW.

OMG, those are precisely my favorite colors!!!

cann't give you any advise (not sure if you're kidding or not, just in case)

I can not take seriously any comment about searching for "nirvana colors" and shooting jpg.

If you are, why not to search for "reality colors" instead of "xxx brand colors" ?

For real world colors, Xrite Colorchecker Passport . Any other color claiming story sounds a bit meaningless to me.

Well, the M9 has a Kodak CCD sensor and the Q has a CMOS.  They are totally different. The Fuji has a CMOS sensor.   I'm not sure how your color blindness affects the way you are interpreting this stuff, but I would imagine it'll be almost impossible for any of us to help (since we aren't color blind).  You'll have to just keep tweaking away until you get what you want.

Color blind ? Oh boy.

I need someone to explain how this will work. OP sees one thing and others another thing - reference a Leica of some sort and use the FUJI to do this.

Think I'm getting a headache ....

You see leica colours how you see them, if your not happy with your fuji jpeg colours then you may need to get yourself a leica because whatever anyone else suggests, your eyesight will not correspond with what they are suggesting. I would just carry on with the xpro1 and enjoy it, for whatever it's worth, I think the mk1 xtrans sensor produces the finest jpegs I have seen.

Very best

You have made a mistake.

It's all subjective...

...colors, that is.  I personally find nothing appealing about the Leica colors, but that's what makes us all different.  I personally think (and prefer) that the Fuji colors are much richer and dynamic than what the severely overpriced red dot cameras tend to capture.  Got to watch it here, because I've just blasphemed as the red dots can be fanatics.

Re: How to replicate Leica colors in Fuji?

Why not shoot RAW? That will give you the most leeway to achieve what you want in PP (not that I know the answer. I actually think the colours from a Leica M that I used were similar to those from my X-T1).

Please do not get me wrong, I love Fuji colors and I love my XP1 (and should have mentioned my X100s).  It just that there are so many variations I end of suffering from inner color conflict.  Just thought I asked the question.

I will add a 2nd question.  I am going to NYC for a week of walking, street photography, corn beef, pastrami, pizza and potato knishes.  Any recommendations for the best jpeg settings for street photography?

Actually sounds like he's color deficient, not color blind, and he's not alone here. Course that doesn't mean we with color issues see the same. Still it's not entirely subjective. If we could get further description of the Leica look desire I bet we can gesture in the right direction.

I love B+W, but prefer to convert color into B+W.  It is nice to have both options.  I prefer to work with a capture that I can use either way.

Incidentally, this whole issue of Leica colors is much ado about nothing.  I am perfectly satisfied and very happy with Fuji color.  I just was curious.
