With Olympus gear I usually buy silver first and get the black later as a second body

Since the Pen F has quite a few dials and the silver is quite prominent, I'd think the silver looks more distinctive, more than the previous Pens, and any OM-D

As to lenses, bot silver and black do go well with it

Case in point

In the case of the EM5 II , I think the Platinum looks more sexy than the silver (only exception IMHO)

Cheers,

Thanks for weighing in and the comparative images.  I happen to like the Titanium color too but don't think I can wait 1-2 years for Olympus to offer one.

So which one did you buy?   Black or silver?

How did you get the fancy F on your Pen-F?

Easy - you only need a computer guided fiber laser;-)

I'm going with the silver.  I am buying directly and can afford one new lens right now (massive GAS burp) but can't decide which.... should I go with the 25, the 60, or really bust myself and go for the 7-14 PRO?

Pretty awesome.  Of course, I totally forgot about the fact that it's also brown, not black. How'd that happen?

I'm getting the black one.

I'm not sure but I put the question to you.

I already have a silver/black EM-1 and silver Olympus 12mm, 17mm, and 45mm Zuiko lenses.

So I'm a silver on silver kinda pho-tog.

The Pen-F is just so dreamy in either silver or black. Silver is retro; Black is stealth. Someone I heard said that the patina on the black looks better over time. Any thoughts?

So which one are you getting?

Pretty simple DIY job.

First I removed the original coverings, which was quite easy because the glue is not that strong. Than I used the original coverings as a template to cut the new ones. My first attempt, shown on the photo, was quite crude, because I cut the coverings manualy, with scissors, just to see how it looks. I used cheap vinyl sticker that looks like leather.

The next step will be somewhat more sophisticated. I will scan the original coverings and use the computer guided laser to precisely cut real leather, together with double sided adhesive tape. I have a couple of colored goat skins and a calfskin with an alligator pattern ready for the next step of customisation.

Stay tuned:-)

I didn't realize you used the word platinum whereas I said titanium.

Titanium

That is

You're absolutely correct

Don't think there's ever a platinum camera sold in history

Re: Pen-F: Which Are You Getting? Black or Silver?

Always black, never silver. Won't be getting this particular camera though.

As a side note, when I was a teenager in the 80's lusting after SLR's I could not afford, the black ones always cost more than the silver ones.

My computer-guided laser rusted shut when I left it out in the yard last autumn. So, what amount are you asking to customize my Pen F, once you get the process dialed in?

I haven't been thinking of providing such a service, but it shouldn't cost more than let's say $100-150 (+ shipping - I am in the EU). Some very exotic leather may costs a little more, but that would be problematic to export anyway, because of the CITES.

Lena

I believe you attach the other end to a lug on the camera so that you don't lose the cap.

Unless the lugs come adrift like they do on the OMD's....

I always for the plain and simple.
For the lenses. I will maintain Black.
For the body. A little touch of silver would not Hurt.
So that is what I have now.
