Re: My second dp1 brick... :-(

That is indeed unfortunate.

Perhaps a visit to the local technician or camera repair shop?

Re: My second dp1 brick... :-(

My DP1 died from similar disease at the end of 2012 during our trip to Isle of Madeira. I was fortunate and bought brand new DP1x for 330 dollars and it works fine until today (knock knock in unpainted wood). Do not bother to repair it. It is simply not worth. Unless you or somebody else is kind of hobbyist and can give a try.

I've just checked ebay. There are a couple of used DP1's so you may try to bid. Do not bother (I mean I wouldn't bother) to deal with those Japanese guys offering brand new stuff for sick prices.

Good luck and go for it. Picture (especially landscape) taken with this little beast is unbeatable.

As to that, I had a quick shoot-out today with the newly acquired micro-4/3rds vs. the DP2s. DP2s won hands-down on image quality and, of course, lost badly on handling, etc.

Not saying anything new, of course . . .

Today, my dp1s stuck. Can't turn it on, the lens is still protruded.

I'm very sorry to read that.

Experienced the very same two times last year. My DP1 and DP1s lenses stuck.

Sent them both to Sigma Germany for repair. They hand them over internally to Sigma Headquarter in Aizu / Japan. Total repair price per cam was about 140EUR. Used DP1, DP1s, ... sell for about 100,-EUR in Germany so this seems to be economical nonsense, but of course you get a freshly adjusted camera with new lens, so to me it made sense as I love the Foveon Oldtimers.

I will have a look... It might be a circuit related problem because on a full battery, when I try turn it on, It get's some current for a fraction of a second, before if stops working. (I can hear the motor of the lens). Then I need to recharge the battery again.

Does the battery go from full to empty in just a few moments?  The battery would get very warm in that situation.

Maybe the problem is with the battery.  Do you have a known working battery available you can try?

I got a reply from Sigma Benelux stating that they can't repair the camera, becuse of the spare parts that are no longer supplied for this camera.

:-(, but no surprise for me.

Hi Daniel!

I couldn't believe (or rather accept...? ;)) that, and just made a phonecall to the Sigma dependance in Germany. The technician told me: situation remains unchanged. Stuck lens DP1,DP1s,DP1x,DP2... make their journey to Aizu/Japan and they still repair them in Japan, like they did last year.

Hope this helps!

Have a nice day!
