Noticeable IQ improvement in moving from G11 to G9x?

I've been using the G11 on trips where a DSLR is too bulky to carry around and am wondering if it would be worth upgrading to the G9x or perhaps the Sony RX100 iii. I'd like a camera that is a bit thinner so it will be easier to put into my pants while I travel. However, the biggest question is whether the image quality has improved enough to justify upgrading. I tend to shoot more in automatic while not using DSLR.

I don't know much about G11, so I cannot comment on how much IQ improvement you'd get by upgrading from my own experience (but based on the specs, probably a HUGE difference). However, I see that you are considering both G9X and RX100M3 as an upgrade candidate, so I thought I'd share my post from a few months ago, that compares G9X and RX100M3.

If it were me i would stick with the Canon Gs, and get a G15 or G16.
