Oregon Trip with the XF 14mm f2.8 lens.
8

I took my family to Oregon back in April for our Spring Break trip, and stayed there for 5 days just soaking in the state's awesome beauty. The only equipment I packed was my X-T1 and the XF 14mm f2.8 lens. This camera and lens combo was perfect for the trip, and I did not find myself missing my other fuji primes.

Re: Oregon Trip with the XF 14mm f2.8 lens.

I am sure I would miss my zooms, but when I was at Multnomah Falls summer of 2014 I missed something wider than 18mm: so I do not have a photo like your first. The day we drove up the columbia river was probably the hottest day Portland had seen 2014. At Multnomah Falls this meant that the masses turned back at the bridge and it was a lot quieter at the top of the waterfalls. Feet in the water, a sandwich in the mouth and a nice view overlooking the columbia river. Memories ...

Very nice shots.

As for C&C, one more piece of gear could have helped make these shots better, a good graduated neutral density filter to protect against the blown skies.

Without one, you could try to lower the exposure and boost the shadows in post, but that does introduce noise and loss of contrast on your main subject. I often don't have one with me though, so resort to doing some exposures this way and seeing how I can adjust in post.

Cheers,
Rich

...you could do the old-fashioned, but time-honored version of shooting brackets....by firing 3 or 5 shots, with the last couple exposed to give nice color to the sky.

A bit more work  in post, but you avoid some of the pitfalls mentioned above, and its what's been done since the early days of darkrooms and chemicals.

(And I agree, very nice shots!) thanks for sharing them.
