Had been curious about the Samsung NX system for a while. But only jumped into it after the fire-sale of the NX line in Singapore. Started with my girlfriend who got her first mirrorless camera with the NX3300 (with 16-50 lens) for S$350 (US$260). I searched high and low on second hand sites in Singapore and somehow found a brand new NX1 with the 16-50 S lens for S$1500 (US$1115). Grabbed it without a second thought (you wouldn't think twice too at that price!). Finally got my hand on a 50-200mm lens this week. Currently I'm hopping to get my hands on the 50-150mm S lens and a flash unit for the NX1.

Here are some photos I took with the NX1 over the month. I'm still quite new to photography in general and still finding my way with the NIK collection.

The first 4 here are taken with the 50-200mm lens.

5, 1/50, ISO2000

5.6, 1/50, ISO2000

5, 1/160, ISO640

4.5, 1/125, ISO1000

Photos on 16-50mm S lens starts from here.

Nicely done...such an amazing camera.  I have my NX500 which I got a great deal on and am loving it.  The 4k stills are amazing.

No offence, and I do not know from what culture you are coming from, but this comment sounds a bit innapropriate for most parts of the world, and the most bizzare thing is that someone liked it (+1!) too!

The pictures are very interesting though.

Hi! I actually liked his comments myself. Personally I find his comments "ok." It's not lewd or discriminating, at least not in my culture. Admittedly, I wouldnt really bother with getting offended by things on the internet, for if that is the case, I would start every day offended. Thus I took his 'request' as a compliment, but it would be snowing in Singapore if I comply. I would attest that my girlfriend wouldnt be offended by it as well.

I would judge a comment as discriminating, if say a person's physical attractivness or lack thereof is used to judge his/her competency at a different skill. However at the same time, we have to admit that the World is superficial and judge people by their looks, more often than not.

Photos I took are a reflection of how I see Singapore. For example the photo of the cigarette is motivated by the fact that we have one of the highest tax rate on tobacco in the World, and yet no shortage of smokers. And the flowers are a tribute to the ability of the city planners in squeezing in greeneries at every little corner. Technically I will have to improve, but the fun of photography is to use it to tell a story. Cheers.

I'm not sure if I overdid it with saturation! Haha!

The price is pretty amazing. Previously I was making videos with the GH-2. Decided to grab the NX-1 at that price. Doesn't really matter that Samsung is pulling out of the market, if this combo last me for 2 to 3 years, I would be very satifised. I have made a couple of short clips with the 120fps function, perhaps I would share those too.

I wouldn't like to sound to harsh to our dear friend, and I apologize if I did! Just the subject of the post was completely irrelevant with photography!

Your photos are very interesting, and now that we know a few more facts makes them even more.

Keep up your photo-story telling!

Cheers.

Now I'm curious. Does the security cameras have a story?   They've caught my eye whenever I check this thread.

Depends on how well you know Singapore. I will tell a long story.

If George Orwell is alive in the 1980s, he would have wrote a book about the almost utopia-like city state of Singapore. Singapore is a bit of a nanny state, and when Singaporeans step overseas, we are a little naive. Pretty much every thing is tightly regulated in Singapore. Demonstrations, protest, strikes and large gathering are outlawed in Singapore.

And then in 2013, a riot happened in Little India (a town in SIngapore). The first riot in Singapore after more than 40 years. When the news first broke, people were in a state of disbelief. After that I started noticing more security cameras popping up all over the island. Now we have progressed from nanny state to surveillance nation.
