Oly 75mm f1.8 : Good focal length for Cityscapes
6

Hi all,

Took this handheld pic below with the M.Zuiko Oly 75mm / EM1.  I had much better results than using the 50-200 SWD and the 40-150 pro.

Starting to get use to it's focal length... but it seems to have plenty of uses combined with its small f-stop wide open.

Cheers,
Chumby

No substitute for speed.  The 75 has a well earned reputation.

Nice work, Chumby. Lovely city, Hobart, unusual view

As in Melbourne, autumn is a lovely time there, eh?

And hand held at 1/3 sec! Let me see you do that in winter when the cold sets in.

Chumby, here's how to get rid of the moton blur

You can see the blur in the lights on the opposite shore, particularly.

Get rid of that using Focus Magic motion blur filter. You have to determine the angle and number of pixels in the movement. In the pic I was able to download, it was about 60 degrees and 3 pixels (or maybe 2.5 -- the higher the rez of the pic, the more accurately you can measure the movement).

Focus Magic is a PShop compatible plug-in produced, incredibly. by our friends across the Tasman. It’s worth a look .

Ok, thanks for that tip Geoffrey.

Can see what you mean - will try that software out.  Do you use it much?

Yes day of the year to acknowledge our friends across the Tasman.

I don’t use the movement one that much, but when there is a need for it, it is invaluable.

It also does regular sharpening rather better than most others -- I use just a touch of that quite a lot.

Indeed.
