Canon Rebel XTI Metadata

Currently shooting a Canon Rebel XTI.

Went to download a picture I took into a photo editor I use.

With all other pictures I took with this camera, the metadata would show up (Shutter speed, F-stop, Focal Length and ISO setting), but with this one picture I took, the metadata is missing.

I am wondering out of curiosity, what would cause this to happen to one picture?

Try taking another shot and see if the problem reoccurs.

Just did that and all the metadata is present with this one picture I took.

Must have been a one off incident.

Hi Wing0,

You don't mention what software you are using to view your metadata, have you tried Canons DPP (the free software that came with your camera) to see if you can view it from there.

No, not yet. My windows based PC is having some minor issues which I have not been able to resolve as of yet (I am currently on a chrome box which is Chrome OS based).

I am using the polarr photo editor (https://v3.polarr.co/ ). When you load a photo, it shows the metadata, if present, on the 2nd line underneath the image dimensions/stats.

Re: Canon Rebel XTI Metadata

Hi Wing0,

Some software programs use badly written metadata tools for extracting the information within the photo, so it maybe a software glitch. Try DPP when your Windows PC is working,

I just went and installed DPP on my windows PC. Loaded up the photo in question and checked the metadata info...there was none.
I don't recall where I got the metadata from, since I like to post my photos on facebook (and here on dpreview for that matter) with that information, so seasoned photographers can give me feedback on how to improve my photo taking ability (Since I am new to photography).
Oh well, it's not an end of the world situation. Photo taking goes on
