Fuji XE2 vXT10 after 2016 firmware

I have a XA1 with the 18 /27 lenses.

I am thinking of either the above with the 18-55 zoom. I am tempted by the 10as I like occasional use of a flippy screen. However in the UK there is nearly £200 difference which would go a long way to my getting the 35/1.4 lens.

with the latest firmware from Fuji how do these cameras compare. My thought were to use the new camera for normal use and consider converting the XA1 for infrared usage

Look forward to hearing from you all

thanks

Tom

Re: Fuji XE2 vXT10 after 2016 firmware

My understanding is that the xe2 with the version 4 firmware is almost the same as an XT 10 there are a couple of mechanical differences that you can't fix and firmware but the differences are marginal

I have an X-E2 and an X-T1. I really like both cameras. The X-E2 is an outstanding value.

Re: Fuji XE2 vXT10 after 2016 firmware

I own many camera bodies for fuji...but my biggest wow factor lately was the update of the 4.0 software on the XE2...When I mount that camera with my 18-135mm zoom...the pictures just pop compared to the old software. I sure hope there will be one more upgrade to the XE1/XPro1 series because I like the older X trans sensor look on my pictures, but I like the new interface that came with the 4.0 software better.

Far less price difference on the Fuji UK refurb store - though the X-E2 hardly ever seems to be in stock there.

Price differences aside, chose the X-T10 if you want the center viewfinder, tilt screen, a bit smaller body, drive dial, and full auto mode. The X-E2 if you want a left-side viewfinder and a flash that can be pointed up.

Re: Fuji XE2 vXT10 after 2016 firmware

I have an X-A1 as well as an X-E1. While I love the X-E1, I often I find myself grabbing the X-A1 simply because of the tilt screen. I also often go out with both bodies and use which ever one best suites the situation. The bodies are so small and light it's really no big burden to carry both. But when and if I ever upgrade, I want a body with a tilt screen.

Good luck.

Re: Fuji XE2 vXT10 after 2016 firmware

I tried the XT10 and appreciated the tilt screen. Though I do not have big hands I did not like the grip and its texture, small buttons and the central VF compared to my X-E1, so I opted for the X-E2. Try them both....

Good luck,

Patrick

Re: Fuji XE2 vXT10 after 2016 firmware

Thanks everyone,

My feelings the XE2 incredible valie but I certainly do like a tilt screen.

Thanks re refurb as at that price from fuji the XT10 is only £100  more and is then very tempting.

I also like cameras with a bit more heft so I am tempted by that.

I also like the idea of inbuilt GPS  WHICH I think the XE2 doesnt have

The idea of trying them out is good. In the US people seem to be able to do this more thoroughlt

Calumet in the UK has Fuji rentals.

you may reconcider it

They are quite similar, the X-E2 handles better in my view, but X-T10 has a tilting LCD. The X-T10 I found very inconvenient to hold, the palm of my hand would often be pushing the back buttons, and my fingers being in the air because there is no place to put them.

Unless you need a faster AF or EVF I wouldn't recommend swapping X-A1 for one of the other cameras. I currently have X-A2 (quite similar to X-A1), which in my view produces better image quality than any of the alternatives.

If you haven't invested in a thumb grip, I highly recommend one. I use a fotodiox type A on my X-A1 and it greatly improves handling. I wonder if such a solution could also improve the XT-10's handling.

There are also after market grips for the X-E(#)s and the XT-10.

I would also echo the sentiment of not getting rid of your X-A1.

Re: you may reconcider it

Thanks again

XA1 I will get a thumb grip as I have one on my X100 and love it!

XE2/ XT10 will continue to think and try it out ....

I think ideally I would like XE2 with a flippy screen. I mainly use VF but I do like waist shooting with screen to get low view and not to disturb the scene. Also I love the results from X100 and XA1 with Bayer and to be honest would love Fuji with ordinary sensor .... But what do I know ?

Re: you may reconcider it

If the EVF is important to you, the X-T10 isn't as good as the X-T1 / X-E2.

I recently bought a second X-E2 on Ebay for £280 complete with body grip and thumb grip. Although I'd also like a floppy screen, I prefer the rangemaster style of the X-E2 is more important to me.

Unless you've got smallish hands, I wouldn't recommend buying the X-T10.

Re: you may reconcider it

You are not at all alone in wishing for a broader choice of bodies with a bayer sensor.

I think if you can somehow get your hands on these cameras the decision will be made much easier.

Me too but the XT-10 with a thumb rest is not bad IMHO. It. with the X-100 sensor would be fine with me.
