Buyer beware as usual on ebay

Canon has allowed much confusion on camera names and sellers are taking advantage of it (or just honest mistakes. I have seen in the last couple days where T3 cameras are being listed as T3i. I called one out on it and they dropped the listing, but the other guy kept it going until it just sold, even after I notified them of the discrepancy between the listing description and the photos.

So beware as usual.

I agree with you, on this.

I had a similar experience while looking at a lens for my Canon camera.  Just as you mentioned, there are several different Canon products, with slightly different variations of names.

I too, emailed sellers about their listings of a particular lens and the images they included of the lens. A couple of sellers emailed me back and thanked me, changing their listing or removing it.  I had a couple that got downright nasty to me when I requested an image of their lens for sale to include the large end, where Canon often labels the model particulars.  One assured me that it was as listed, but refused to provide an image showing the label info.  I emailed the seller back and again pointed out from the images he posted, that lens was different than what his seller listing info provided.   Seller refused to provide what I requested, so I moved on to other listings.  Moral is be educated about what you are looking for, so you know the specific details of the product you're interested in.

Byer beware is very wise advice.

Re: Buyer beware as usual on ebay

I use paypal for all purchases on ebay, so I am never concerned if I do get misled, paypal will protect the buyer over the seller. Those sellers who are getting upset, rather than thanking you, are ultimately shooting themselves in the foot.

Having said that, I still make sure I properly identify items as much as possible. And the misnaming can sometimes be an advantage, when a more expensive piece of kit is listed as the cheaper version.

Saw the same thing a year or two ago on a Walmart flyer ad.  They listed the T3i at an unbelievable price.  Went to the store and it was the T3.  Most likely an honest mistake.  If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
