I have the same dout, better buy nx85 or samyang 135? Has anyone experience with manual lens for portrait? I think that i will get a lot out of focus pictures, because people like to move.

I went with the rokinon 85. Couldn't afford the nx85 price. I mainly use mine for portraits and the results are stunning.  Haven't had too many out of focus pictures due to the model moving too much.

I love your pictures. I See i need a good portrait lens. In your opinion is the 85mm Samsung lens fast enough for slow moving portrait Fotos?

With NX500 (and probably NX1) Samsung 85 is fast enough, I took those pics from a marathon(mostly with 85, few with 45) and they were not moving slow:

About Samyang 135/2 - it's probably very nice lens and sharper than the 85, but I prefer MF for portraits on shorter lenses like 50mm. I'm interested at that lens, but for some landscape or concert shots.

Thanks for your answer. Do you think that with the Rokinon it is possible to do this nice marathon shots from the Sofia Marathon? I ask myself which AF mode nocho has used with his NX500?

The NX85 is in the meantime rare and expensive.

I was using Continuous AF mode and multiple shots. This is not a sport combo, so I didn't have 100% keepers, but plenty of good shots. That would be really hard without AF.

Re: Spring portrait photo shoot with NX500 and 85 1.4

I just use my 60mm Macro fpr portrait photos last days.

1. 60mm with 2,8 is not strong enough to separate the background well.

2. The AF worked fast and led to sharp photos in good light conditions. But the ultimate possible sharpness only was attained by using MF + focus loupe. This can only be applied for static objects.

3. Using only MF (on moving objects/models) is difficult and I will try to get more skill in that.

A 5x loupe as a pop up display as part of the normal screen would be good (~30%?)

I'm using mostly 85 1.4 or 45 1.8 for portraits, but I have seen some nice portraits with 60 2.8 macro too - https://www.flickr.com/photos/steve-heise/18338018426/
