Re: Suggestions on body upgrade

So technically, a T4i would be just as good, save the rubber grip?

T3i / T4i(skip this one as it is not better than T3i actually) / T5i is a good upgrade.

Really?

The T4i and the T5i are virtually identical. It's not really known why the T5i was introduced so quickly after the T4i. There was an issue with the rubber grip on the T4i, turned white when in contact with skin, perhaps that was why it was replaced so quickly. The T4i was discontinued and I'll bet it's almost impossible to find a new one anyway.

Check out the side by side comparison of theT3i,  T4i and T5i and see for yourself.

Hmm. He might have just mixed up the T4i and T5i (both of them being virtual twins), and both being much more advanced than the earlier T3i.

Definitely.  And mine didn't have the rubber grip issue.

A very capable camera, esp the AI Servo tracking autofocus...

Click "original size" for any of these images...

Excellent color rendition...

Really nice exposure latitude...

Very fine detail...

Fun for people pics...

And Handheld Night Scene mode for low light (@ ISO 4000)...

You gotta see this one large.  ISO 4000!

Had a really fun time with this camera.  Upgraded to the 70D mainly for the extra FPS, larger RAW buffer, and video AF.  But as you can see, the T4i is still a very capable camera.

Good luck in your quest!

The grip issue was rectified within the first few months after the T4i release, but I think the damage had already been done. I believe the T5i was released very quickly afterward to try to remove the stain on Canon's reputation.

I had a T4i up until last summer (never had any issues with the grip) when I got an excellent deal on a 70D.

The T4i was/is a very capable camera, so yes it would be just as good, if you could get one.

*How's the auto focus on moving objects, I like to shoot birds, in flight when I can.

The SL1 is an excellent camera, and I can recommend it. But for birds in flight, people tend to recommend something like the 70d or 80d. They also have microfocus adjustment. Unfortunately, they are twice the weight and three times the cost. Not sure about the 760d.

Watch out for those refurb deals.  Often the prices are excellent, but right now they are overpriced.

Thanks, yes just saw they hiked the price like almost 200.00 in one day on those, argh!

Now a used T4i is a better deal, once I sell my camera I'll look for best deals on either
