Canon Powershot SX710 HS not connecting to MacBook Air

Hi all,

I have recently purchased to Canon Powershot SX710 HS. At home, I was able to easily transfer Images  as well as movies as my camera connected to my laptop. I am now on holiday and have connected both the camera and the laptop to the same network but I keep getting the same message, 'Device not found.' I have tried and failed numerous times to upload my photos and videos onto the laptop but without success.

If you have any idea on what I should do, I would be glad to hear, as I need to free up some space on my camera for more photos and video.

Thanks!

What about transferring the photos the old-fashioned way-- via the memory card, either directly placed in the Air (that is, if compatible card), or using a memory card reader, even if you have to buy one?!

Or, maybe even simpler, a USB cable attaching the camera to the Air?!

Those old-fashioned, direct methods have a lot going for them!

Good luck with it-- and enjoy your holiday!

Really, if all you are trying to do is transfer photos pick up a card reader if you can.  Yes, I understand it's another piece of gear but they're very small (especially if you get an SD reader that plugs directly into the USB port w/o a cable), and will work universally on any computer.  It will also transfer faster than from the camera.

Unfortunately, there is no SD card slot in the air and it seems that canon is intent on solely providing you with a Wi-Fi transferring camera as there was no USB cable that came with the camera.

I think it is just a matter of the camera already being used to transferring on one network. Which is a problem canon needs to fix.

So do as I suggested and get an external card reader.
