Heavy "S" lenses mounted on an NX500

I am thinking of purchasing a 16-50mm S lens and maybe a 50-150mm lens later on for my NX500. Does anyone have this combo and are there any issues mounting these heavy lenses on compact body like the NX500?  Will it cause any damage to the lens mount?  By the way, what body type material is the NX500 made out of?

Thank you.

I've used my S mount lenses on the NX500. As compared to using it on my NX1 where I hold the camera and support the lens, on the NX500 I tend to hold the lens itself. No issues.

I do the same.  It does make it a bit harder for me to adjust the settings and use the touch screen as efficiently as I do with a smaller lens.

I'm still looking at getting an NX1 to with the s lens.  I know this thread isn't related to the performance of the 16-50s but for my current needs I'm not sure if it would get much use from me.  In that range I have the 20, 30 and the 45.  Soon i'll also have a 35 manual.  This gives me a ton of options with different features in that same range.  Even my 50-150 sometimes takes a back seat to my rokinon 85.  I just can't duplicate that nice bokeh that lens offers.  In exchange of that I get a really sharp picture that is sometimes a bit too sharp.

There is a guy who sometimes post here that hang his 50-150 from a strap instead off the camera.  It allowed him to walk around without having to hold onto that lens the whole time.

I have nx300 (and nx30) and both S lenses. There will be no damage to mount even with 50-150 (that is a bit long) and even if you not holding the lens but just camera (what is uncomfortable). that said, nx30 (so nx1 as well) is much better suited for these lenses as the grop adds a lot to comfort and operations. It's just much easier to hold and keep lens stable.

It may work for static subject and plenty of time to focus. I take pictures of my kids, mostly, and since I bought 16-50, i use primes very rarely, mainly 30mm at home. Other reasons is OIS - very useful, esp for movies.

My primes work out great for me on kids. The 30 is hit or miss inside but the rest of my primes are great outside and in..  The 50-150 is just too large for me to chase things around with on the nx500. If I ever get the nx1 or nx30 I'm sure I'll get more use out of oh.

I haven't tried the 16-50 yet. I imagine that it's probably a  bit easier to use than the 50-150. Plus it has the convenience of not having to change the lenses as much.

I don't have either S lens but I do have a rokinon 24mm thats almost the same size and weight as the 16-50 S and I don't think the size is an issue.

As others have said it becomes more of a "lens with a camera attached to it" kind thing, but it's not uncomfortable as long as you hold the lens and forget about the camera.
