Does the Oly 14-42 II R come with a cap on the bayonet mount?

Does the Oly 14-42 II R come with a cap on the bayonet mount?

I got a kit Oly 14-42 II R with my E-PM2, and recently I noticed that the bayonet mount was exposed. I don't remember seeing that before, so I wonder if the cap/ring on the mount may have fallen off accidentally.

Does this lens come with a cap on the mount or is it exposed?

This is driving me crazy, wondering if I lost that cap

Can someone check and let me know.

Thanks!

No,  there is no cap supplied. The bayonet is exposed

Despite the other answer, if you are talking about the front bayonet (for a lens hood) then yes, there should be a silver (for the silver lens) ring which bayonets over it to complete the look of the lens.  When the camera is brand new, it has its own strip of blue tinted sticky film wrapped around it (that might ring a bell if you bought the camera new).

It's purely a cosmetic item - the previous version of the lens, the 14-42 II (no R in the name) is physically the same lens apart from the pattern of the knurling on the zoom and focus rings, and it never came with that trim ring (though the ring would fit it, if you ever tried).  So it's not a necessity for keeping dust out of any area, or anything like that.

That is strange. On two cams with this kit lens, there wasn't a ring.

The blue sticky wrap does ring a bell, so I must have lost the trim piece somewhere. I know it's not necessary, but it does leave the mount exposed

May have to get a bayonet lens hood for this lens to give it the "finished" look.

Thanks
