Re: Pen F Problem Autofocus with the Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8

i know about the difference in mf and s-af and how i can switch between the two with the ring...

i now use the mode s-af with the mf feature together  so i can adjust the focus with the shutter half pressed to make the focus sharp if needed...and i am waiting for the official answer from Olympus..

thx

Just tested mine with the 12-40 and no issues. Seems to work fine with all my lenses.

Re: Pen F Problem Autofocus with the Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8

Also from the manual of the E-P5 it says about the autofocus that uses

Imager contrast detection system ...

and for the Pen -F it says Hi-Speed Imager AF..

I don't know the exact difference between the two but maybe this difference makes the experience about the autofocus different between the two bodies...I remember myself the fastest af with the E-P5 3 years now and i have never experienced a problem with that...it have never crossed my mind outdoors or indoors...

Now with the shift to the Pen-F it behaves much different indoors...Maybe its normal ...however because of the fact that i was used 3 years now to the focus of the P5 i should get used to the Pen-F now...

Thx guys!

Hi,

Have you received a reply from Olympus or sorted the issue?

I am finding PEN F struggling in focussing indoor with Olympus 12-50mm.

I am finding PEN F struggling in focussing indoor with Olympus 12-50mm.

I bought a PEN-F a week ago tomorrow along with the PL12-60/2.8-4 and I've noticed that in very low light with not much contrast that the AF hunts, my EM10 did the same thing, but for me that's the only time it does, my AF keeper rate is still as good as my EM10.

Re: Pen F Problem Autofocus with the Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8

Olympus told me that there is nothing wrong with the hardware of the camera or the lens...however it still haunts at indoor lighting (specially when indoor lighting is LED) ...while other Olympus bodies or the Panasonic gx85 behave normally...so I think that we should try to live with that...However it is weird for me that the issue isn't mentioned in any  pen f review I came across at the net ...

hope that I helped ...its not the lens or the firmware ...its the way that pen f focus...as I told the older pen ep5 is behaving way better in this ...!
