What is your favorite fast M4/3 Prime AF Lens?
6

Unfortunately, these polls do not permit multiple answers, so please indicate the M4/3 AF prime lens that you actually OWN that is your favorite.

This isn't a poll to see which lens you think is the best, or which lens you would like to buy. It is about your favorite fast prime lens, among the ones you already own.

  • Only AF prime lenses
  • Only lenses you actually own
  • Only lenses f/2.0 or faster if under 100mm. For 300mm, f/4.0 is pretty fast.
  • Please don't tell me "you forgot the 14mm f/2.5, or the Sigma f/2.8 primes"
  • Please don't tell me I forgot a zoom lens, or a MF lens, or some adapted cine lens.
  • Nikon and Canon users, please don't say "you forgot to add none of the above."

Thanks!

(I wonder if anyone has the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens yet? It looks like it might be a great lens.)

What would really be interesting is if we knew how many of these lenses the responders owned, to get a true 'favorite' % (number of people who pick the lens divided by number of people who own the lens).

Own:

14/2.5, 17/1.8, 20/1.7, 25/1.4, 45/1.8, 75/1.8

In order of favorite:

25/1.4, 45/18, 75/1.8, 17/1.8, 14/2.5, 20/1.7

Nice poll...

The don'ts list made me chuckle.  I guarantee somewhere, someone is still going to do one if not all of them.  You forgot X lens!  hehe.

Seriously though I really can't decide between the fisheye or the 300mm, and may switch my vote if I return.  I guess I like life at the extremes.

I can't get enough of the PL15.

I'm truly smitten with that lens. It works fantastic for so many different types of photography, and works as a great lens for video as well. Plus, of the really small lenses, it is easily one of the best built. I may on a whim sell a lens here or there for something else, but this lens is a gem that will always find a home in my camera bag.

You left 60mm Macro out. And as well 19/30/60mm Sigmas.

And don't even try to say that f/2.8 isn't fast!

Wow.... I have really been lusting for that lens, so I keep looking for a good price on a used or refurbished one. I think Panasonic hit a grand slam home run with that little gem.

If I didn't already own the 14mm f/2.5 and the 17mm f/1.8, I would get one immediately. I suppose the best solution would be to sell BOTH lenses to finance the 15mm f/1.7.

25mm f1.8 for me
2

I have some really nice prime lenses, but the one that consistently surprises me is the 25mm f1.8.  My 15 and 75mm are very good, too, but they were also very expensive.  The 25mm is a "cheap" prime and easily hangs with those lenses and surpasses them in some ways.

25mmf1.8 today, maybe 15mmf1.7 tomorrow

I voted for the 25mmf1.8 that's currently my most used since 2014.  Last month, I bought a Panasonic 15mmf1.7 which I suspect will become the most used.  We'll see.

After mentioning why he did.

f2.8 isn't fast.

I think it can easily replace both unless you use the WA adapter on the 14mm.  The 15mm can't use that (I tried, it wasn't pretty!).

Please add the PL45mm 2.8

Please add the Panasonic Leica 45mm 2.8. That presently is my favourite AF prime.

Looking at the poll options...
8

I already answered my favorite, but looking at that list of poll options really spells out how awesome mFT system really is.  All those lenses and not a single "dog" among them.  I could probably take any lens on that list out for a month trial and it could become my new favorite.

I only own two the Olympus 45mm 1.8 and the Panasonic 25mm 1.7. I voted on the 45mm just because it renders color so nicely, and its sharp.

I also have the 14mmf2.5 and 17mmf2.8 specifically for my GM1 because of their pancake design for the ultimate lightweight, portable system.  The 14mm double-duty as a ultra-wide lens when I attach a 0.75 wide converter.

Last month, I bought a 15mmf1.7 because the 14mmf2.5 is not fast enough for indoor/lowlight situations.  However, I have no plan to sell 14mm nor the 17mm as they don't really overlap in my use cases.

Cant vote (and didn't).

I don't OWN any of those but did own the 12 f2, 20 1.7 and 45 1.8

I also would vote for none of those even if having OWNED and used them was allowed as my vote would go to the Canon 135 f2 L with Kipon adapter...

AF prime....check

Lens I own....check

f2 (but longer than 100mm)...so yes, it IS an adapted lens but it works like a native lens.

I would also rate the Canon 40 2.8 very high too (above the 135 even) but it is adapted AND 2.8.

If I was going to vote for native fast prime that I have OWNED, it would be the 12 f2.

These days, adapted lens does not mean what it used to in many cases.
