Not wanting to topic drift this but heck, my K-5iis is a low light focussing ninja

Hi Lawerence.

Thanks for the detailed options. I just had a look at some of the sample images of k1 for High ISO and still its showing very good details which is somewhat tempting me to go for it and also tillable screen is something really nice to have. I think i will wait for some time for the k1 review and then go for k3II as per your suggestion.

Just my two cents. K-3 improved low light focusing and I guess K-3 II should be even better? But the K-1 has really a great improvement coming from K-3!

If you only want higher definition with APS-C lenses the K-3 II should be the answer, but if you want the better AF and DR from Pentax, you'll get it from the K-1. Coming from K-5 and K-3, it's really amazing for me in ISO, DR, AF and usability.

I hope that someone with K-1 and K-3 II experience will provide a better comparison.

I have both the K-3II and K-1.

In pretty well every respect, the K-1 is better. The K-3II has the edge in frames-per-second, but in practice, where AF is required, the K-1 in Crop mode is nearly as good.

My K-3II has become a back-up camera in case my K-1 breaks.

Another review is avaliable at https://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-k-1-expert-review-28884.

With a 36 megapixel full-frame sensor and a host of unique features including built in GPS, Wi-Fi, and 5-axis image stabilisation sensor, at an extremely competitive price, the Pentax K-1 offers the best bang-per-buck of any current Digital SLR.
