Lense for canon 80d

Hey guys,

I need suggestions, I am planning to buy canon 80d (my first DSLR). But i don't know which lenses to buy. Should i get:

either 18-135 mm

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-18-135mm-3-5-5-6-Standard-Digital/dp/B002NEGTT2

or both 50mm f1.8  and 55-250mm IS STM

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-STM-Lens/dp/B00X8MRBCW/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1457462108&sr=1-1&keywords=canon+50mm

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EF-S-55-250mm-F4-5-6-Cameras/dp/B00EFILVQU/ref=sr_1_3?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1457462159&sr=1-3&keywords=55-250mm+canon

I will probably will do mostly family photos, landscapes, portrait and a little sports photography.

Thank you.

Canon EF 50mm F1.8 STM Canon EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Canon EOS 80D

Remember that the actual focal length will be ×1.6 whatever lenses you choose.

Re: Lense for canon 80d

For landscapes, cheap solution is Canon 10-18mm, or Tokina 11-whatever(that one has larger aperture, tinny hair sharper image to the corners and is more expensive).

For portraits 50mm f/1.8 STM is good cheap choice.

For reach and sports, 55-250mm is good cheap choice.

Of course there are way better lenses, but I don't see you going for these to pay big $$$$.

18-135mm IS STM is good vide range lens, and If you want a one lens situation for little money, it would be it, but if it was my decision, I would not buy 80D at first place, but T6i/T6s, and I'd go with those lenses mentioned before, if not better. Good new body without adequate lenses will not help your situation.

Also, remember that there is the new 18-135mm IS USM lens coming out.

What about the 15-85?  Less reach but wider at the short end.

My daughter loves her 10-18.  While not the fastest lens, it represents a good value.  It's also nice and light.

My son rarely uses his 50mm f/1.8 but loves his 55-250mm.  He rented a 100-400mm in Africa and found it an easy transition.

Why do you prefer the T6i/T6s over the 80D?  I prefer pentaprism to pentamirror and anticipate the 80D's autofocus will be superior.  I do wish the 80D had DIGIC 7 and 4K video.

I don´t prefer T6i over 80D. Never did. But I would prefer that choice in the "name of" buying better lenses, because of money savings on that cheaper body, which is also good.

18 - 135 is best bet.

See the headline.

Re:Engraver kknows focal length

The actual focal length will be the focal length that Canon engraved on the lens.

And the new 18-135 USM seems to focus faster than the 18 -135 STM.
