Re: My review of the 24mm STM.

Hi!

Thanks for your review! However, I would have liked the review to cover other aspects, especially low light performance / bokeh for larger apertures than f/6,3.

I was considering this lens for a while but went for the Sigma 18-35 mm f/1,8 instead (not really a pancake and not really the same price, I admit!!, but great for low light and even some close up stuff).

Cheers

This lens has very little distortion. Is it possible you are confusing Perspective Distortion with Barrel distortion?

Re: My review of the 24mm STM.

For me, the 24 STM is an easy decision as my third lens for a light kit.  With my 18-135 and 10-18 STM the 24 becomes my "fast" lens for indoor and night scenes.   I really don't see much distortion or CA but the vignetting is pretty awful wide open.   Correctable in post for sure.  I've used it inside in museums and art galleries where flash and tripods armehighly discouraged.  Not sure where the focusing issues come from, but as you mentioned, on a 70D ......   To me, at the price it's an easy lens to own for ASPC.

You're right, I should have said perspective distorsion which can happen at close range. Distorsion is not a problem for me as I don't use it for regular landscape with horizon very often.

thank you for your suggestions, I didn't used it much in low light thought since i'm using it outdoor most of the time.

About CA and distorsion

Even the popular online review sites found that the lens have some CA and distortion, maybe not always visible . I will make an update for the CA to clarify that , when I was shooting with it last autumn I didn't encountered CA very often but since I've used it during this winter the Ice and snow are easier to create CA , but it's not severe just that it's visible when zoomed in in PS.
