Dragonflies (Stills & Flight)
26

Thought id'e share some Dragonflies I have come across from recent birding trips.

No matter what I shoot I always get distracted when I see a dragonfly.

regards,
Vas

Fantastic...I have no idea how you'd get them in frame and in focus while flying...love them...no out to the garden to practice!

I really like this one. Lovely colours.

Banded Flutterer

I'm pretty much the same, always getting distracted by them.

Here's one from Thailand:

And thanks for naming them, I often wondered what their names were. So I now know this is a scarlet percher!

Thanks

It's not easy, especially with the Blue Skimmers in flight. Can get frustrating at times

The 40-150 + mc-14 has some impressive close-ups, not as impressive as the 60mm macro but if your subjects are as big as dragonflies it's pretty good or better at times, especially if the subjects don't allow you to get too close

lovely set, I always get distracted also when I see them...but to take a shot of those flying things while airborne is another story... are you willing to share the method for it ?

Excellent series vass.

Love #3, Banded Flutterer, nice isolated perch, pose and background. Haven' tseen one of these before.

I too can get distracted by them. Didn't know any of them by name, so thanks for that.

Whatever you turn your camera at, you seem to get the very best out of it Vas. Wonderful set and again, top work.

Not much too it same as I do birds.
Good following skills and smacking that trigger to fire a burst ASAP when you lock. if your focus points drop off back to practise.
Sometimes I do it with C-AF sometimes with C-AF + Tr
And don't forget to pre-focus otherwise you will never see anything but blur and have lens hunt.
And another tip is study the flight patterns, paths behaviour etc
