That's a serious stretch in assumptions. Warranty(the real purpose of these parts) a bad lens with a bad lens? My "parts" lens was perfect. This is the first I have heard that one was not. Just normal manufacturing defect.

I would say it's just a bad lens, the 10mm that I received from them was perfect. These things happen, though I will say that packaging could have been a little better (the box it arrived in had bubble rap on the top and sides but crumpled paper on the bottom. I contacted J&J and I am waiting on the return auth to exchange the lens. I guess that will put me back in the queue once they receive the lens.

I received my UPS return label yesterday (that can take up to 72 hours, mine took 48) and I it's one its way back to J&J. I hope they have a lens ready to exchange for me. Inventory must be getting pretty low by now, let's see how long it takes for the turn around.

The bad lens was received at J&J, I called them today, they informed me that it take 24 hours to process the exchange at which time they will send me a confirmation of exchange and hopefully a date when the new lens will be shipped.

Bad news from J&J, I called them to find out about my exchange for the 50-150mm and they informed me that even for exchanges that lens wasn't available. I wonder how this effects getting service on the the NX1? I'm bummed now and it's all on me buying into a system that's going away.  So, I have to look at the bright side, I was thinking about buying the Canon 70-300mm L lens so now it looks like I may need to purchase it. I'm going to miss that 50-150 fast focusing lens.  Yes, I could try to find one used but now I'm worried about service.

This is what I was afraid of, when all people were exhausting the "parts" stock.

As thousands of lenses (I have at least 5 or 6) are still in warranty, I am expecting a move from Samsung, or a lot of money refunded the next couple of years, that can give a jumpstart to anyone changing/trying other systems.

Bad news indeed.  I ordered my 50-150 one month ago yesterday.  I have not called them yet, but maybe I should.

Well I broke down and bought the 50-150 on eBay, I paid less than retail but more than samsungparts. I was going to get the Canon lens but I felt I needed the 50-150 in the stable while I could get it. The Canon 70-300 L is always available.

Exactly. This (and the original) threads killed the remaining nx supplies and hence the future for this system.

I've been saying this from day 1 and even sent a note to the mod about this.

Now it's too late.

I'm not understanding how this killed the future of the nx system. Samsung is fully responsible for that. These deals are really no different from the canon referb ones.

All that is posted about this is purely a guess. I'm sure the part store can tell us apart from a real samsung repair center in regards to warranty. They are probably holding some back for warranty replacements. Otherwise they'll have to pay out for anything they can not replace.

All this confirms is Samsung isn't focusing on the camera division.  Once all the stock is sold they'll probably close it altogether. Leaving it on the shelves longer does nothing to increase the lifespan of the line.

Nothing much we can do about this. If the part store was not able to get rid of their stock then Samsung would have had to find another way to dump it.

Out of curiosity is there any way we can see when our lens was produced?

It's different. Firs, you're getting new product. Second, it cost 50% - you cannot get canon refurb for 50% of the price.

However I'd blame samsung for not controlling supply of his parts and allowing resellers selling it to end customers.

And definitely it didn't kill the future of the system - Samsung killed it by stopping production. I'd like to buy NX1 and it's quaite difficult now in europe - obviously I don't want to pay full introduction price for 1,5 camera of a dead system. But I'm happy to pay 1000euro for body only. And no luck so far. BTW - NX500 for 700 euro as on amazon de is not even funny.

Maybe you can't get a canon refurb for more than 50% off retail but I've been able to. They run these types of sales every few months. I'd even call them better than the part store because they work just like new and have their full warranty. I'd rather get a full warranty refurb that works perfectly than a new untested product with a much smaller warranty period.

I'm new to this type of photography. But I don't see what Samsung is doing much different than what canon is doing. Both are trying to clear out stock. Samsung stopping production is the only real crime I can see here.

Samsungparts had nothing to do with the end of the NX product line:

1) Outside of this forum, few knew of it as a source;

2) Even here, some had concerns about ordering form Samsungparts;

3) Samsungparts has a limited supply fully controlled by Samsung.

In fact, Samsungparts probably did Samsung a favor by unloading excess inventory from exited markets.

Ok, you'll be happy when you'll need a 50-150 lens and you won't find it anymore, then. I guess the latest supplies got exhausted via that site.

You need to step off that high horse.

I bet samsungparts sold about 10 of the 50-150 lenses to members of this forum. If that's all Samsung had left then it wouldn't taken much longer to exhaust the inventory anyway.

Sure. Especially 24-70 2.8 or 70-200 2.8 or other expensive lenses. All you could get with that discunt is detached kit lenses. This is not the case here.

Who is talking about smaller warranty? It's shop vs service part here, both with full warranty.

It's very different. Canon is never selling L glass though refurb channel, except cheapest 24-105 that is kit anyway.

Both are trying to clear out stock.

I doubt samusng is trying to clear stock by selling through service centers. This "offer" was available for people with knowledge since the begining of samsung system.

Samsung stopping production is the only real crime I can see here.

They do in the U.S via Canon USA. And they have sales all the time. There's currently a 15% off promotion code on refurbished items. And they list a number of L class lenses. Most are sold out right now but they most certainly do sell refurbished L lenses. You won't get 50% off but you will get a substantial discount when you have a code.

Warranty through samsungparts is only 90 days.  Canon it's the same warranty as a new lens.

And your right,  it isn't 50% exactly. Sometimes it might be higher or lower. But it isn't worth debating as I'm not even sure what lenses your basing your argument on. They just had a big sale that is still in part going on. Before that it was November.  I've also seen a few other places with cheap Canon lenses that may not come with any warranty.  Their 55-250 just went for 124. I think it might have been a bit lower back in November.

The lenses that are part of current discussion in this thread. S lenses from samsungm, that correspond to L glass from canon.

They just had a big sale that is still in part going on. Before that it was November. I've also seen a few other places with cheap Canon lenses that may not come with any warranty. Their 55-250 just went for 124.

It's a cheap dark kit lens. It's good, but at the very bottom fo the offer. Selling kit with big discount is something different than selling premium with 50% discount.

My point is that Canon doesn't behave in a similar way, esp. since lenses from Samsung are not even refurbs but brand new products.

I think it might have been a bit lower back in November.
